PUMC Celebrates the Resurrection with the Hallelujah Chorus (4/5/15)

Starting with Ash Wednesday, we’ve been preparing to  celebrate this special day that we call Easter.  No, it’s not about bunnies, ham and eggs.  It’s about our God who planned from eternity past to eternity future to restore and build a relationship with His people through His Son, Jesus Christ. During Lent, through Pastor Jim’s sermons we looked at the Seven Last Words of Christ from the cross.  We learned that you can’t experience the resurrection without...

Choirs Present “The Seven Last Words” in Palm Sunday Cantata (3/29/15)

Palm Sunday is usually viewed as a joyous time of celebration; the King is arriving into the Holy City.  But we quickly discover that the Holy City rejected and crucified this King instead of celebrating and worshiping Him. And so it’s appropriate that Palm Sunday finds us looking at the Seven Last Words of Christ. The choir led our Palm Sunday service by continuing Pastor Jim’s theme of Christ’s Seven Last Words on the Cross. Along with narration and scripture readings, the...

Local Praise Teams Support Church in Mexico (3/22/15)

On the evening of Sunday 3/22/15, some of the best praise teams from area UMC churches came to PUMC to present a concert.  It was not only a time of worship, but an opportunity to support a sister UMC church in La Palmilla Mexico… The Methodist church in La Palmilla may be economically impoverished (at least according to our standards), but they are rich in their love for the Lord and in their service for His Kingdom.  But, they’re bursting at the seams and they really need a new...

Here’s one of the initial challenges from Pastor Peter…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwHqnJppNR4   The challenge has spread and has now...

We always hear about UMCOR- The United Methodist Committee on Relief.  When there is a tragedy in the world, they quickly jump into achtion and organize funding and relief.  All of this important work is done without siphoning any funding from the donations in order to pay for overhead costs.  ALL of the donations given to UMCOR for a specific project go dreitly to the relief effort. How does that work?  The committee’s overhead costs are funded by one annual offering, called “One...
