Knitting/Crocheting and Quilting Ministries…
In our church, two groups are actively mixing yarn, creativity, skill, and love in order to extend the love of Christ to people in special need. Blankets, prayer shawls, quilts, or even hats have been used to comfort people in both joyous and in difficult times…
- Baptisms
- Hospital Stays
- Shut-ins
- Cancer patients (hats)
- Victims of Domestic Violence
Our knitting/crocheting ministries extend God’s love through the body of our church by surrounding people with the warmth of a knitted item. Blankets are frequently placed on the altar and the congregation prays over them before the blankets are delivered.
Two groups are currently active in this ministry:
Scrappy Quilters
The Scrappy Quilters meet on the third Saturday of each month (from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM) to design and make quilts. Our name was chosen because we use donated material and kits to make quilts.
The quilts fill many needs for people in need. We are currently donating our quilts to a shelter for victims of domestic abuse and to the Mother and Child Shelter in Woodbury. We make both full-size and child-size quilts.
If you enjoy sewing and would like to learn how to quilt, join us at our next scheduled meeting in the Gathering Room. The Gathering Room is the big room on the second level of the education wing. Enter the Narthex main door, head up the stairs to your left- or take the elevator, and then head down the hall. We’re about mid way down on the left.
For any questions, please contact Linda Boltz.

Hooks and Needles for God
Hooks and Needles for God (Crochet/Knit) meets after each Sunday morning worship service and also at 1:00 PM on the First and Third Mondays of each month. Choose whichever time/day works best for you. Hooks and Needles meets in room 209. That’s the the classroom that’s next to the Art Room (from the Narthex, head upstairs. The room is the second classroom on your right).
It is open to all! If you can’t come to the meetings at church, knit from home and donate your creations.
Please notify Connie Norton if you know of someone who could use a prayer shawl or if you have any questions.
Both groups are open to anyone interested in using whatever Yarn or Thread related skills they may have in order to bless someone in need.
