Pastor’s Ponderings: God’s Not Done with Me Yet! (June 2026)

Pastor Mike submitted the following observations for the June 2026 cover article of Steeple Notes (PUMC’s monthly newsletter).

Scripture (see Philippians 1:6)…..

I thank my God every time I remember you.

In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

It is hard to see life beyond the immediate, but I believe that God is always seeing life from a long–term view. I have been frustrated so many times wondering what God was doing and every time, in its harvesting time, I can see what God was doing, and it was wonderful!

I didn’t know much about farming until I served at Aldine UMC as my first opportunity in ministry. I gained so much respect for farming, and I was amazed at how patient farmers are, as they wait on their harvest. Nothing is instant in the farming world, and you have to understand that there is “work being done” in the soil.

Jesus was in the middle of the difficulty, but I understand that God is not done. Let us not give up when things are not going the way we hoped; let us not give up when we have failed and need to start over again because God is not done yet!

Jesus promised that he would never let us go as we continue to focus on him, he will continue to work in our circumstances! The Holy Spirit is patient, and he will continue to trim us and form us into the person we need to be. Anything good is never easy, but God is doing good work in us and let it continue.
