Pastor’s Ponderings: What Has God Done for Me?
The song “My Tribute (To God be the Glory)” challenges us to consider the ways that God continues to bless us. What are these blessings? How do we thank Him?

Sometimes we keep trying to do things we can’t do and get frustrated because we loose focus on the things we CAN do. Pastor Jim submitted thoughts on this for the Feb. 2023 edition of Steeple Notes (our church’s newsletter).

On 3/15/20, the Coroanvirus crisis forced us to cancel our public worship service. Instead, we “produced” a live stream service in our empty sanctuary. The UMW was planning to distribute soup in between services. Instead, we formed a “drive-thru” line.

You need a close parking spot. You need a new car. You could really use a winning lottery ticket!
The Bible says that God will provide all of our needs. What’s that really mean? Pastor John Inverso (First UMC Glassboro), took a look at this question during his message at the 8/19/18 Camp Meeting.
Coins with God’s Image (Camp Meeting, 7/8/18)
Jesus’ response to the trap was brilliant:”Whose image is on that coin? Then give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, but give to God what belongs to God.” It blew His questioners away.
The sermon at the 7/8/18 Camp Meeting turned that question towards us: What “coins” are you carrying?
The 12 Days of Christmas Decoded!
We’re all familiar with the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” But other than a silly party song where a quartet of friends gets make fools of themselves by squawking like “Calling Birds” (whatever they are), is there any spiritual significance in this song’s lyrics? Either way, all of us need to keep returning to The Vine for strength.
Rest, Relax,and Rejuvenate
We are entering the summer season, a season that affords opportunities for Rest, Relax & Rejuvenate rest and relaxation. Let’s make it a priority to look for these moments that we can relax physically and renew ourselves emotionally and spiritually.
These moments are gifts from God. Let’s embrace the gift and “loosen the bow” this summer!

Are we really resting in the peace and security that God offers us? Or, we running around, bearing burdens that God wants to lift from us? Matthew 6:25-26… “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are...

The signboard message posted on December 27, 2014 read: LIFE IS A GIFT. THAT’S WHY THEY CALL IT THE PRESENT. OK. Maybe a cheep pun. Maybe cliche. Whenever we think of someone who survived a serious disease or somehow dodged a life threatening accident, a string of sayings pops into mind to remind us that life is indeed fragile. Whenever some unusual event threatens our lives, we are able to see life as a gift from God. But what about during normal times? What if you’re...
