Because of the pandemic, we had to cancel our 2020 Men’s Retreat. But our scheduled speaker, Pastor George DeVol, created a series of videos to lead us in a “virtual retreat.” Check out this post to join the “retreat.”

The Men’s Fellowship group will hold their 2019 retreat on the weekend of March 15-18. The retreat speaker will be Pastor Matt Murphy, who led our retreat a couple of years ago. Pastor Matt will build on his introduction by taking us to where “the rubber meets the road” and showing us how to fulfill the mission to which God is calling us.

Who said that everything in church has to be serious stuff like study and worship? Sometimes it’s just as important to just get out and spend time with each other. After all, it’s the relationships that are formed in church that make all of that study and worship effective. And so- it’s hard to top Pizza and Bowling when it comes to guys going out for a fun evening! And that’s what we’re doing on Saturday January 19. Here are the details: DATE: ...

The 2018 Men’s Fellowship retreat was our 17th annual retreat at Black Rock! Regardless of our situation or how many times we’ve done something, we need to be aware of the purpose of our life.
Pastor George DeVol led us on a weekend study of Paul’s letter to the Philippians, and to some serious reflection…

The Mens Fellowship group followed a tradition this year; we went on a retreat to Black Rock. This was our 16th annual retreat. Routine? Not really! Every time you open yourself up for an encounter with God, something different is likely to happen. The topic of this year’s retreat was “Being a Man with a Mission”, and we explored how our “mission” plays out in our personal, family and church lives. Retreats aren’t just “book learning” or...

Sometimes it’s really helpful to shift your focus from the daily routine, and get away to spend some time with friends around a time of learning, worship, and fellowship. And that’s exactly what a retreat is! For the 15th year in a row, our Men’s Fellowship group took a weekend apart and traveled to the Black Rock Retreat Center in Quaryville, PA. It’s a familiar place for us, but each weekend has its own character and its own take-aways of growth and learning. This...

The Men’s Fellowship group held their monthly gathering on Saturday January 8. The gathering took place in a brand new year, but our speaker was a familiar face. Joining us was Rev. Chris Heckert, who is now serving as the senior pastor in the Haddonfield United Methodist Church. Pastor Chris was our associate pastor between 2004 and 2006 (during our “tabernacling days” after the fire while we met in the downtown storefront). During his time here he blessed us with...

Our United Methodist Men’s Fellowship held our monthly gathering on the morning of December 12, and we considered Psalm 100. This familiar Psalm teaches us that “Theology (knowledge) leads to Doxology (worship).” Our guest speaker was Gino Curcuruto, a chiropractor/pastor/father and devoted Christian. Gino and his family recently moved from Pitman to Philadelphia, with the intent of planting churches in his South Philly neighborhood (or wherever God is leading them). The...

The Men of our church got the chance to get together on Saturday for two seemingly different activities. First we gathered at the church for a Bible study on Romans chapter 1. After that, we “gathered” at a local park to rake leaves. The leaf raking was our participation in Pitman’s “Clean Communities” project in which civic and church groups work to clean up an assigned roadway or piece of land. For us, money earned from this morning of work helps pay for our...

Pizza!!!! On the second Saturday of every month in the year (except in the months named July and August), a group of men get together to laugh, drink coffee, eat donuts… and share in some informal Bible study. The “informal Bible study” is usually lead by an outside speaker who gives us a fresh perspective on how we can live and grow in our Christian walk as men. Our fellowship gatherings are normally held at 7:30 AM in the Potter’s Hand room (balcony level behind the...

On Saturday April 18 our men’s fellowship group descended upon a patch of borough property on the corner of Cedar Ave. & Alcyon Blvd. to clean up. As part of the town’s clean communities program, we raked leaves, picked up trash, and collected sticks to tidy up this unkempt area. We were given rakes, convict-looking orange vests, and trash grabbers, and amidst the summer like weather and even a bit of “trash talk,” we spent the morning doing a much needed job. And-...

Saturday (2/14/15) is Valentines Day. And, it’s also the 2nd Saturday of the month. Put the two together, and it’s time for the United Methodist Men to gather in fellowship AND to discuss our love lives… or more accurately, our Heart Condition with God. And to make that easier, our guest speaker is a doctor! The Rev. Dr. Nicholas DeMaria, MD. will lead us in a study of “The Spiritual Autopsy of the Heart.” We’ll look at the book of 1 Samuel. ...
