This year’s World Day of prayer will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on Friday, March 13 at 1:00 PM.
What is the World Day of Prayer?
It is an ecumenical movement of women from many faith traditions who share a common day of prayer annually on the first Friday of March. Men, women and children are all invited to participate.
Why?
This global movement, begun in the U.S. in 1920, promotes justice and equality for women through prayer, partnership, service and celebration. We gather to affirm that prayer and action are inseparable and have immeasurable influence in the world.
How?
Each year, one of the 170 participating countries is chosen to interpret scripture within their culture and provide a worship service for the world. The past two years recognized Egypt and France. In 2015, the Bahamas invite the world to “come and be washed in God’s ever-flowing ocean of grace.” We will celebrate the culture of the Bahamas with music, prayer and refreshments.
