During every Sunday worship service, Children will have the chance to attend their own age-appropriate “church service.” Before the service’s sermon, Pastor Mike leads a “kid’s moment”, and then dismisses the children for Children’s Church.
Children’s Church is held in the Gathering Room (for Pre-K to 3rd grade) and in the Junior High room (4th and 5th grade). Both of these rooms are on the 2nd floor of the Education wing.
The nursery is available to care for infants and toddlers during the service. The Nursery is the first door on your right as you enter the first floor corridor of the Education Wing (just go through the single door in the rear of the sanctuary).
Directions to Children’s Church…
Gathering Room (Pre-K through 3rd Grade)…
Exit the sanctuary from the double doors in the back and enter the Narthex. Turn to the door on your right and head upstairs (you can also take the elevator). From the top of the stairs, proceed through the door that leads into the 2nd floor corridor. The Gathering Room is the larger room that’s about 1/2 way down the hall on your left.
Junior High Room (for 4th and 5th graders)…
Like the Gathering Room, the Junior High room is also on the 2nd floor of the Education wing. The Junior High room is near the end of the corridor, the next to last door on your right.
Pre-K Through 3rd Grade…
The younger children meet in the Gathering room. Children’s Church starts immediately after the service’s “Kid’s Moment,” and ends at the conclusion of the worship service. You can drop your child off in the Gathering Room and return to the sanctuary for the remainder of the service. Or, you’re welcome to stick around and stay with your child during Children’s Church.
Children’s Church is led by our Youth Group (and adult leaders). During their time together, the children will learn different Bible stories, engage with crafts and music, and enjoy some snacks.
4th and 5th Grade….
The older children meet in the Junior High Room (on the same floor, several doors down the hall). The 4th and 5th Graders are also led by the Youth Group (and, of course, adult leaders). They explore various Biblical themes and Bible stories and are led into a deeper understanding of our faith in Jesus.
Like the parents of the younger children (Pre-K-3rd grade), parents of the older group are welcome to join in on the Children’s church (or to return to the sanctuary for the remainder of the service).
Children’s Church is always held for the younger group (pre-K through 3rd Grade). However, the older children do not meet on Sundays when we celebrate communion. Typically, this occurs on the first Sunday of each month.
On those Sundays, keep your children with you during the worship service. It’s important that they begin to experience public worship and to learn the significance of the Lord’s Supper.
