PUMC Using Daffodils to Fight Cancer! (3/19/17)

Spring is arriving!  And one of the first tastes of the new season is the emergence of those yellow flowers through the soil.  Daffodils!  They’re beautiful, they are harbingers of warmer weather, and- they can be used to fight one of the deadliest diseases afflicting mankind; Cancer.  We’re selling mini pots of daffodils to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The daffodil pots are being sold for $10 each.  A nice round number.  But note that we’re able to purchase...

PUMC Raising Fun(ds) at the Glassboro Friendlys! (Thursday 10/20/15)

PUMC has developed a tradition of eating at Friendlys to help raise funds for our missions.  Helping  feed others by eating out?!?  Yep!  The restaurant donates a portion of everyone’s bill to our church (if you present a voucher when ordering). And PUMC people love to eat!  Starting with our first “Fun Raiser” back  in June of 2015, we have taken advantage of Friendly’s “Fun Raiser” program by packing the Glassboro Friendlys on the Third Thursday of each...

Purple Potty Makes the Rounds for Malaga Camp!

Summer is a great time, and all of us look forward to the change of pace and vacations. Our Youth Group (BLAST) is especially looking forward to some special times at the Malaga Camp this summer. The “problem” is that these camps are kind of expensive.
Not being one to sit around without flushing out the problem, BLAST is raising scholarship money by working as plumbers!

Women to Make the Super Bowl Something to Look Forward To! (2/7/16)

February 7, 2016 will probably be a pretty normal day for Philadelphia Eagles fans.  On that Sunday, the NFL’s two best teams will play for the championship Lombardi trophy.  But, it’s extremely unlikely that the Eagles will be one of those teams! But that doesn’t mean that “Superbowl Sunday” can’t be a super day for us. The Mary circle (of our United Methodist Women’s fellowship) is inviting everyone to leave the Superbowl cooking to us:  We will...

Breakfast Buffet and Bake Sale to Help OFH Families! (9/26/15)

The morning of Saturday September 26 will be a busy time at PUMC!  We’re getting together so we can help families afford to send their children to our preschool, Our Fathers House. We’re doing a couple of things to raise funds for our preschool’s Scholarship Fund.  Many families depend on this to provide their youngsters with a quality Christian-oriented education.  Our preschool offers classes for 2, 3, and 4 year olds (including an all-day pre-K program).   Breakfast...

PUMC to Return to Friendlys! (7/21/15 & 8/18/15)

During the Summer you need Ice Cream! You need to go to the shore and do other things to take advantage of the opportunity to mix thing up.  One of the highlights during the Fall and Winter is our Tuesday evenings of dinner, fellowship, and Bible Study.  But one of this summer’s highlights is shaping up to be our evenings at Friendlys! Last month, we held our first Fundraiser at Friendlys.  PUMC packed the restaurant and we raised over $250 for our shared ministries.  People across the...

Elderberries Are Really Cooking!!! (6/1/15)

“Oldies but Goodies” The Elderberries (our “seniors” fellowship group) have compiled a cookbook of some of our favorite recipes from the past. Our families and friends have enjoyed them for years, and they are the highlights of many a covered dish supper or family gathering. The cookbook will be available for a donation, and the proceeds will go towards the payment of our shared ministries obligation. The cookbooks can be obtained from Maureen Kier or  Marshall Genter.  ...

Mexico Mission Benefits from Men’s Cooking and Yard Sale (4/26/15)

On Saturday April 25, 2015, the United Methodist Men’s Fellowship served up one of our “famous” breakfast buffets.  The buffet was open not only to serve up a great Saturday morning eating experience, but also to help us serve a church in La Palmilla Mexico which needs help to finish the construction of their new sanctuary.  The buffet was held in conjunction with a yard sale.  Vendors paid for table space, and those proceeds went to the mission. About 110 people dug into the...

Local Praise Teams Support Church in Mexico (3/22/15)

On the evening of Sunday 3/22/15, some of the best praise teams from area UMC churches came to PUMC to present a concert.  It was not only a time of worship, but an opportunity to support a sister UMC church in La Palmilla Mexico… The Methodist church in La Palmilla may be economically impoverished (at least according to our standards), but they are rich in their love for the Lord and in their service for His Kingdom.  But, they’re bursting at the seams and they really need a new...
