It wasn’t just a “Graduation”… it was a celebration. A celebration of a program, of teachers, of parents, and of children. Divided into classes named “Busy Bees,” “Friendly Yellow Fish,” and “Friendly Orange Fish,” a total of 37 four-year olds marked the end of their experience in Our Father’s House and the anticipation of the next phase of their education. It is our prayer that these precious children not only learned how to...

Rakes, shovels, snow blowers, shovels… where do you put them? If you’re a homeowner, you probably store them in your garage or in a garden shed. But if you’re a church, you also need a place to store them. We’re called to be good stewards of all God has entrusted us with… even rakes and shovels. Ever since we moved into our new building in 2008, this has been an issue. Snowblowers, gas cans, and other items have been stored under tarps; hidden away in any...

On Sunday May 10, the Hooks and Needles for God group filled the altar rail with a colorful and soft array of blankets. Hooks and Needles makes these blankets to be given to people in times of special need; illness, births, or just when someone needs to know that the church is surrounding them in prayer. During the service, members gathered around the altar rail to pray over these blankets. The people receiving these blankets is not yet known (by us anyway…), but the prayers were made...

On Saturday April 25 at 11:56 AM, a massive 7.5 earthquake struck Pokhara Nepal. In Pitman, most of us were sound asleep (2:00 AM)- many of us fell asleep looking forward to the next day’s Breakfast Buffet and Yard Sale. But in Nepal, lives were instantly changed (and ended). Two days later, on April 27, UMCOR (United Methodist Committee On Relief) approved a grant of $90,000 for partner GlobalMedic to bring sorely-needed clean water to Nepal earthquake survivors through distribution of...

On Saturday April 25, 2015, the United Methodist Men’s Fellowship served up one of our “famous” breakfast buffets. The buffet was open not only to serve up a great Saturday morning eating experience, but also to help us serve a church in La Palmilla Mexico which needs help to finish the construction of their new sanctuary. The buffet was held in conjunction with a yard sale. Vendors paid for table space, and those proceeds went to the mission. About 110 people dug into the...

On Saturday April 18 our men’s fellowship group descended upon a patch of borough property on the corner of Cedar Ave. & Alcyon Blvd. to clean up. As part of the town’s clean communities program, we raked leaves, picked up trash, and collected sticks to tidy up this unkempt area. We were given rakes, convict-looking orange vests, and trash grabbers, and amidst the summer like weather and even a bit of “trash talk,” we spent the morning doing a much needed job. And-...

Starting with Ash Wednesday, we’ve been preparing to celebrate this special day that we call Easter. No, it’s not about bunnies, ham and eggs. It’s about our God who planned from eternity past to eternity future to restore and build a relationship with His people through His Son, Jesus Christ. During Lent, through Pastor Jim’s sermons we looked at the Seven Last Words of Christ from the cross. We learned that you can’t experience the resurrection without...

Palm Sunday is usually viewed as a joyous time of celebration; the King is arriving into the Holy City. But we quickly discover that the Holy City rejected and crucified this King instead of celebrating and worshiping Him. And so it’s appropriate that Palm Sunday finds us looking at the Seven Last Words of Christ. The choir led our Palm Sunday service by continuing Pastor Jim’s theme of Christ’s Seven Last Words on the Cross. Along with narration and scripture readings, the...

But, they’re bursting at the seams and they really need a new...
