Men Stick it to the Leaves (4/18/15)
On Saturday April 18 our men’s fellowship group descended upon a patch of borough property on the corner of Cedar Ave. & Alcyon Blvd. to clean up. As part of the town’s clean communities program, we raked leaves, picked up trash, and collected sticks to tidy up this unkempt area. We were given rakes, convict-looking orange vests, and trash grabbers, and amidst the summer like weather and even a bit of “trash talk,” we spent the morning doing a much needed job. And-...

Read Morefwd: Email From God (4/5/15)
Ever get one of those emails that had been forwarded to a gazillion people? It might be yet another message with jokes or another advertisement. When these messages come, we usually hit the delete key without even considering to open them. If the message starts with the letters “fwd:”, the word “ignore” tends to pop into most of our minds. But have we experienced so many Easters that the amazing message of the Resurrection has simply dissolved into a familiar, worn...

You sunk my Battleship! Games? Really? What’s that got to do with church? Isn’t that just for kids? As we’ve heard so many times, a church isn’t a building; it’s the people who are the church. If we are to “spur one another on towards good deeds” (as it says in Hebrews 10:24) it’s important that we get to know each other. Traveling to Mexico on a missions team, or joining with a couple of guys to wash dishes in the kitchen, or praying...

And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again.” Our journey through Lent is bringing us ever closer to the cross of Jesus. Palm Sunday is usually viewed as a joyous time of celebration; the King is arriving into the Holy City. And so it’s appropriate that Palm Sunday finds us looking at the Seven Last Words of Christ. The choir led our Palm Sunday service by continuing Pastor Jim’s theme of Christ’s Seven Last Words on the Cross. Along with narration and scripture readings, the...
