PUMC to Join with Local Churches for a Community BASH (5/7/16)

Are you ready for a big BASH?  Bash???  It stands for: Believing Acting Sharing Helping Our church (and the Delaware Bay District that we belong to) is seeking to move Gospel out of the church building, engage with the community and make a difference in the lives of individuals.  God’s not contained in “God’s House” (as we call the church), and we don’t want to always hang out inside of our buildings either. So we’re having a “BASH” and stepping...

Nah.  The “General Conference” is the ruling body of the entire United Methodist Church. Pastor’s Ponderings: Second Coming?!? He’s Already Here!!!

Pastor Jim submitted the following on 4/25/16…   Not long ago I saw a sign on someone’s front yard which simply read, ‘Jesus is coming!’” FRIENDS, while I respect the enthusiasm of that person but I think have better news than that; Jesus is already here! Sometimes we are so focused on the “second coming” that we forget that Jesus is already present in us! Jesus said in John 15:26… “When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit...

30 Hour Famine: Youth to Save Starving Kids by Fasting! (5/6/16 – 5/7/16)

Yep!  BLAST also has a blast by helping others.  Last year we served breakfast at a homeless shelter, raised over a ton (literally) of food for the Pitman Food Pantry, and participated in many other ministries to help us learn more...

A Future with Hope Continues to Rebuild Sandy Devistation

In 2012 one of the worst storms ever to hit our state pounded our shore communities. The result, in addition to all of the lost business and damaged public infrastructure, is that over 160,000 families were instantly rendered homeless.  In response, New Jersey Methodists (the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference)  created an organization called “A Future with Hope.”   “A Future with Hope” is a vehicle for funneling volunteers from churches all across the state to help...

He Ain’t Here- He’s Done Gone! (4/10/16)

Early on Easter morning, some of the women reported that the tomb was empty.  Jesus’ body wasn’t there.  The disciples were confused and fearful, so two of them got out of town by walking to Emmaus.  Jesus caught up with them along the way and their lives were changed forever.  In his sermon, Pastor Jim invited us to walk along with these disciples and to “let Jesus jump into your arms.”  Click the below “Play” button and scroll down to follow along (the...

Churches Band Together- Music for Missions (4/10/16)

Music;  it’s a gift from God.  God gave us music so we could give it back to Him.  We use it to teach, to worship, to praise.  And, we also use it to support our efforts to feed the hungry and to house the poor. On the evening of Sunday April 10, several local Methodist churches got together to present a concert to raise funds for our mission to La Palmilla Mexico.  For many years, the limited financial resources of the church in this town have not been able to reach their boundless love...

We will meet at the church at 1:15 and return to the church somewhere around 5 PM.   It will be fun, but safe.  Much safer than what might have been implied by this post’s featured image…  Camp Edge is located in Alloway, NJ.  Their stated mission is to: “Encourage Christ centered living through...

Pastor’s Ponderings: You Owe Me

This devotional was sent by Pastor Jim on 2/25/15… Greetings Friends: PLEASE READ: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Shared Giving Supports Native American Ministries

Native American Ministries is a Shared Ministry important to all United Methodists. For centuries, Native Americans have shared their love of God’s earth, their respect for all people, and their desire to live peacefully. In 1988 to honor that rich heritage the United Methodist General Conference choose to focus on Native American Ministries each April; to remind us all of the gifts and contributions made by Native Americans to our church, and to society. Navajo, Choctaw, Cherokee, and...

April 1: National Atheist’s Day!

On April 1, 2016, the following message was posted on our signboard: APRIL 1: NATIONAL ATHEIST’S DAY!   April First, like any other first day of the month, ushers in a new month.  It demands that we turn the page on our calendar.  But when that first day comes in the month of April, it takes on a special meaning:  April Fools Day! Now, that’s not a religious holiday.  We just wrapped up the season of Lent and celebrated the wonder of Easter.  We celebrate these Holy Days...

Experience the Sonrise Every Day!

Just before Easter Sunday 2016, the following message was posted on our Church’s Signboard: Experience the Sonrise Every Day!      Sunrise… If it’s a clear morning, we might be able to experience the Sun Rise, but the Son of God is risen every day! Have you ever seen a sunrise, or sunset, or rainbow, or some other view of God’s beautiful creation without “Experiencing” it?  Can you see a sunrise and just walk away without noticing?  Revelations...
