Praise Band Concert @ PUMC to Support Mexican Church (3/22/15)
For years, our church (along with several other local UMC churches) has been supporting a United Methodist Church in La Palmilla, Mexico. This growing congregation has been struggling to build a new sanctuary that will enable them to further their ministries in this poor region of Mexico. Later this year, a missions team will travel to Mexico to assist in their construction efforts. We always hear about UMCOR- The United Methodist Committee on Relief. When there is a tragedy in the world, they quickly jump into achtion and organize funding and relief. All of this important work is done without siphoning any funding from the donations in order to pay for overhead costs. ALL of the donations given to UMCOR for a specific project go dreitly to the relief effort. How does that work? Yes it is Winter! This evening’s (Sunday 3/1) Youth Council meeting and BLAST (our youth fellowship) were postponed due to the ice storm. Both events will be held NEXT week (Sunday March 8). The Youth Council will meet from 5:30-6:30. Part of the meeting will include a presentation about the upcoming 30 hour fast. The BLAST group will meet from 6:30-8:00.
