Last weekend (1/18/15), our BLAST Youth Group attended the “Mid-Winter Advance” at Keswick. Besides having a lot of fun and meeting new friends, they focused on Matthew 25:40 and discussed ways in which they can put their faith into action and “do it for the least of these.”
Here’s the “T-Shirt Translation” of this verse:
This weekend (1/25/15) the group returned and shared what they learned by leading the 9:30 worship service.
The following thoughts were given by Melissa Brown and Hope Brown (not included are some videos/slideshows). Click on the “Play” button to listen to the sermon…
1: Serve with no If, Ands, or Buts…
Do service for God. Don’t expect anything in return.
2: BEFORE you do service, God must make a change in You…
Pray about it and trust that God will lead you. If God makes this change in you, than you’ll be able to do the service willingly, with a spirit of loving submission to God. But if you don’t “pre-prayer”and allow God to establish your mindset, you may end up serving with selfish ambitions.
3: There are Many Needs; Jump in and Take Part…
Around Pitman…
- Pitman Food pantry
- Key Club in High School helps out in Manor every month.
- Angels of God- They collect used clothes and give to needy families. They always need donations and help.
Around Our Church…
- La Palmilla Mission– Help a growing congregation in Mexico build a church.
- Red Bird Mission– Help the poor in Appalachia
- Usher Team / Acolytes / “Service Teams” in church
- Urban Promise Help give hope to kids in Camden
- Global Missionaries Spread the Gospel around the world
As a group, Blast also frequently visits with the Manor residents, participates in the annual CROP Walk (for fighting global hunger), and helps out at the Camden Neighborhood Center.
Be a Doer and Not a Wisher!
