Saturday October 24 was really an all day affair in our Fellowship Hall and Parking Lot! In the morning we held a Breakfast Buffet and Yard Sale to raise funds to support our friends’ church in La Palmilla Mexico. In the evening we just threw a party and had some fun by inviting the community to our annual “Trunk or Treat” night.
Here are the details…
AM- Breakfast Buffet and Yard Sale
The breakfast buffet was organized by our United Methodist Men’s Fellowship group. We’re not professional chefs… just guys who like to get together and serve our church. And- we also like to serve by serving food (not to mention by cooking tatter tops and scrubbing pots!). We frequently help out ministries in our church by volunteering our Breakfast Buffet skills.
The Yard Sale was organized by our Mission Team to La Palmilla Mexico. Vendors paid for tables or outdoor space and kept the proceeds from their sales. Funds from the tables went directly to our La Palmilla Missions fund. Between the Buffet and Yard sale we raised over $1300! This money will be used to aid in the construction and furnishing of the sanctuary in La Palmilla. This church is “bursting at the seams” and our aid with the building frees them up to minister directly to the poor in Mexico. PM- Trunk or Treat!
When the sun went down, we parked our decorated cars in the parking lot, set up some food and games in the Fellowship Hall, and invited the community to come on over. Trunk or Treat is always a popular event; about 700 people came out! It’s a fun way to celebrate the fall holiday without getting into the witch and gobbin stuff. The decorated trunks and the games gave everyone a chance to spend some quality time with the kids… and to collect some sweet high-caloric treats!
