Wear your favorite team jersey to church this Sunday!!!
No, this isn’t an “April Fools” joke- it’s February… not April! Did you know that worship is supposed to be FUN, UPLIFTING, and REAL??? Formalities can lead us to a reverent attitude, but sometimes they can also seal us off into something that’s not genuine.
And so on Sunday Feb. 7, we’re not going to be irreverent, but we are going to suspend the “dress code” and do things a bit differently for one Sunday.
Super Bowl Sunday
We have it on good authority that “some football game” is going to be played this Sunday, and that it will attract a lot of attention. Sometimes people don’t even go to church on Superbowl Sunday! But worshiping God should be a Super Experience (on any day).

And so on Sunday February 7 our bulletin will follow a football format, and everyone is encouraged to wear something related to sports: Eagles, Sixers, Flyers, Phillies… even 49’ers or even… EVEN… Cowboys garb will be welcome! We’re called to be ambassadors for God wherever we go. God’s not only in church with a bunch of well-dressed Christians; God is also in a stadium with thousands of screaming fans.
So how do we exercise true Godly love while being IN the world without becoming OF the world?
Lift High the Cross… Don’t let clothes get in the way!
Drop in this Sunday for a unique worship experience, and invite a friend (even if they’re wearing a Cowboys shirt)!
Really!
Maybe it takes a bit of faith to step out into church on a Sunday Morning wearing anything other than “normal church garb.” If you’re wavering about your clothes for this Sunday, here are a few pictures from last year…
