Pitman was a hub of activity on Saturday September 20 as it held its bi-annual Craft Show. Broadway was closed off as vendors lined the sidewalk with tents filled with their artistic wares.
Our church was also busy! We’re located about 1/2 mile away from the show, and we shared our parking lot with visitors and provided free shuttle rides in our church van for the short ride to the craft show area. The Men’s Fellowship Group also threw one of their “famous” breakfast buffets. Craft show visitors and “buffet regulars” took advantage of the opportunity to start the day with some great food.
Mission…
The breakfast, and donations given after the free shuttle rides raised funds that will help the people of La Palmilla Mexico complete their church sanctuary. This church has outgrown its small facility, and it is a focal point for ministry to the poor in that area.

La Palmilla
The people in La Palmilla Mexico have little resources, but they have a huge heart for God. They are being God’s hands and feet in Mexico, but they need our help.
When our old church building burned down in 2003 we waited in the “wilderness” of borrowed spaces for 4 years before we were able to move into our present building. But the people in La Palmilla have been waiting much longer than that. We have discovered how the resource of our building can be used to impact the lives of others while the people in La Palmilla have been struggling to help others without this resource.
Below are some pictures of our friends in Mexico and of the church they are striving to complete. The pictures are from our mission trip in 2013…
Breakfast…
The buffet was prepared by our United Methodist Men’s Fellowship. It consisted of French Toast casserole, sausage, eggs, gravy and biscuits , tater tops, and yes, even some fruit to balance things off. Live music was also provided, and we served over 140 people.

Shuttle…
The church van was busy all day! Several drivers took shifts as the van constantly traveled between our parking lot and the downtown area. Parking downtown was scarce, but our parking lot provided free parking to visitors throughout the Craft Show.

It was the first time we tried having a Breakfast Buffet during the Craft Show and the first time we provided parking. But it was a great day… so don’t be surprised if we do this again for the Spring Craft Show! Stay tuned…
