Holy Week Reflections...

In the April edition of Steeple Notes (our church Newsletter), Pastor Larry wrote the following and challenged us to meditate on a series of scripture readings throughout Holy Week (the week starting with Palm Sunday, April 13, and ending with Easter Sunday, April 20).

In the movie "Gravity", three members of the shuttle crew work outside the craft to repair the Hubble telescope when they have a catastrophic encounter with a field of space debris. Cut off from all communication with Houston ground control, novice astronaut Dr. Ryan Stone must master her terror and rely on instructions from her veteran flight companion if she is to survive. Her life is spinning out of control and she fights to maintain control over her fears.

I wonder if that happens for us.  Does life spin out of control?   As Christians, how do we maintain control when we skip through our faith journey without maintaining the spiritual center every day?  Do we pray daily, tend to our devotions and read Scripture?  Are we disciplined to go to worship weekly?  During Holy week, do we go from Palm Sunday to Easter skipping the heart of the Cross?

I urge you to conquer your fears and find control by carefully going through Holy Week.  In addition to the obvious Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services, below are Scripture readings for daily readings during Holy Week.

Allow God to give you peace of mind over your time and schedule.  Reduce your stress in a Holy spiritual reflection.  May you find time  for prayer, Scripture reading,  thoughtful reflection,  and a Holy Week watch.
