Hooks and Needles is a group of women (men are invited!) who knit and crochet items like scarves, blankets, baby hats, and prayer shawls.  These warm items are used to share God’s love with people in hospitals, needy families, and with families celebrating a recent baptism.
families celebrating a recent baptism.
Before the pandemic, we met in the church building to share our skills and to support each other as a “small group.”  But during the worst of the Coronavirus pandemic, our building was closed.  Along with everything else, the Hooks and Needles ministry had to draw on our creativity to find different ways to get together.  So we met via Zoom and crocheted at home, and when the weather warmed up we met in a local park.
But now that the building has re-opened, we have returned to the church.  Here are the details on when we meet:
TIME: From 1 PM until 3 PM
WHERE: Potter’s Hand Room
WHO: Anyone!
The Potter’s Hand room is located behind the sanctuary on the balcony level. All are welcome! You don’t have to bring anything, and you don’t have to have any special skills. We’ll supply what you need and teach you how to knit or crochet.
We’re currently working on lap blankets and shawls which will be given to hospice. The people there use these items for warmth and comfort and they really appreciate that someone cares enough to give them a gift that warms them and points them to God’s love. In the near future, we plan to make blankets for the Mother and Child Shelter.
