Effective July 1, the Rev. Dr. Jisun Kwak became our new District Superintendent, Replacing Rev. Richard Nichols (who was appointed as the Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Moorestown).

On Sunday September 21, our church will have the honor of hosting her service of installation as the Superintendent of the Delaware Bay District. The service will begin at 3:00 PM, and a reception will be held in our Fellowship Hall afterwards.
Bishop John Schol, the presiding bishop of the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference will help officiate during the service. Our praise team and a district-wide choir will sing during the service.

Installation Introduction of the District Superintendent: The Covenant Service
L: Name, you have been appointed to be among us for the ministry of Word and Sacrament; and called to a special ministry of supervision and leadership. You are called to guard the faith, to seek the unity, and to exercise the discipline of the Church and to supervise and support the Church’s life, work, and mission. Do you affirm your commitment to these ministries in our midst?
DS: I affirm my commitment to these ministries in our midst.
L: Sisters and brothers in Christ, as a people committed to participate in the ministries of the Church by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service and your witness, will you support and uphold Name in these ministries?

Jisun Kwak has been serving as the District Superintendent of the Gateway North District of the Greater New Jersey Conference since 2011. To the position of District Superintendent she brings experience as a church growing pastor, a professional pastoral counselor, an adjunct professor with the cross cultural perspective and a mother.
A proud native of South Korea, Jisun received her bachelor’s degree in theology and social work from Yonsei University. She then came to the United States and continued her studies, earning a master’s in both divinity and philosophy at Drew University. Jisun garnered a Ph. D degree in religion and psychology from the Casperson School of Graduate Studies at Drew University.
