Pitman Packs Summer Meals (7-1-20)

During “normal times,” students in Pitman’s schools receive daily lunches in school.  During “normal” summers, area churches have been getting together to create weekly lunches for the kids in needy families.  During these “abnormal” times caused by the pandemic, ALL kids are in need of nutritious breakfasts and lunches.  People have lost their jobs, and it’s been difficult to shop.

Thanks to a federal grant and to the dedication of the churches throughout the town, we have been able to distribute a week’s worth of breakfasts and lunches for every needy child in the area.  Instead of relying on donations, this summer the food is supplied by ____

Every Monday (?????), a group of PUMC’ers has been joining with other masked volunteers to pack breakfasts and lunches at the Pitman High School.  A full week’s supply of items like ___,  ___,   and  ___ ??? are put together to supply nutritious breakfasts.  Added to the box is a 7-day supply of of sandwiches(?),  _________,  and ??? to provide lunches to these needy families.  In a “socially distanced” assembly line, the ?x? boxes are filled with food, labeled(?), and taped(?) in preparation for distribution.

Needy families come by the High School(???)  on Tuesday afternoons (???) to pick up these much-needed daily supplies of food.  Most of the recipients are from Pitman, but there are no residency requirements.  We are feeding kids from Pitman, ???, ??? and ???.   During the summer, we’ve been distributing an average of ______________ meal kits per week.

The program will continue through the end of summer and last as long as the schools are closed……..   OR— The program is scheduled to run through the end of the summer (8/31/20????)

If you are in need of food assistance while the schools are closed

……..(what do you do if you need help?)  ………………….
