We need to put Jesus Above All else! Is He greater than your favorite TV star? Is He greater than your favorite athlete? What about music? Is Jesus your favorite Rock Star???
On Thursday Feb. 22 a group from Our Father’s House (our preschool), joined their own “rock band”, picked up their plastic guitars, started out with “ABC Rock” and then moved on by “rocking” to many Spiritual Hits such as:
- He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands
- I’m Happy All the Time
- This Little Light of Mine
- … and many other “bonus tracks!
Elvis might have been “The King of Rock and Roll,” but Jesus is the King of our Lives!
The kids learned that Jesus is Our Rock (that’s how we roll… or do anything). This morning’s musical lesson was a fun way of extending our praise of Jesus as the true foundation of our lives.
We’ve been learning Psalm 62:6…
Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
We’ve also been thinking about how we can build our lives on God’s firm foundation instead of our own “sandy” foundation..
Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.
But anyone who hears my teaching and ignores it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.
Matt 7:24-27
And to bring the analogy even further, we made “prayer rocks.” Holding on to a rock while praying can be a strong reminder that our Rock (Jesus) hears our prayers, and that He holds on to us even more tightly than we can grip our rock.
Rocking with Jesus is Fun!
Beyond all of the learning and Spiritual concepts, the kids flat out had a great time! Here’s a glimpse of what happened…
God is Our Rock… and Rock Star!!!
Even as we sing, God takes delight in us! Take a look at the sermon Pastor Jim preached this past October…
