Posted by on Jan 11, 2016 in EventAnnouncement, Mission: AroundTowns | 0 comments

The Red Cross will visit our Fellowship Hall on Friday January 29 to give us a chance to help replenish their blood banks.  Local hospitals are always in need of blood; transfusions and re-supply to save lives every day.

Consider doing your part.  If you are able to donate, please stop by our church any time between 2:00 – 7:00 PM.  You should expect to spend 60 minutes for a whole blood donation (or 90 minutes for a double red donation).
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred.  There are several options to set up an appointment:

  • Call 800-RED-CROSS
  • Or go to RedCrossBlood.org.  Enter Sponsor Code: “Pitman UMC”

All  participating donors will receive the fulfillment of knowing they may have just saved a life.  And beyond that- all donors will also receive a voucher for a free pound of Dunkin Donuts coffee!

Tips and requirements for donors…

  • Be in good health and feeling well.
  • Be at least 17 years old. Weigh at least 110 pounds.
  • Hydrate. Eat a healthy meal before donating. Avoid fatty foods.
  • Wear something where the sleeves can be rolled up.
  • Bring a list of medications you are taking. Bring an ID.

The need is constant. The gratification is instant. Give blood.
