PUMC Using Daffodils to Fight Cancer! (3/19/17)

Spring is arriving!  And one of the first tastes of the new season is the emergence of those yellow flowers through the soil.  Daffodils!  They’re beautiful, they are harbingers of warmer weather, and- they can be used to fight one of the deadliest diseases afflicting mankind; Cancer.  We’re selling mini pots of daffodils to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The daffodil pots are being sold for $10 each.  A nice round number.  But note that we’re able to purchase...

PUMC to Host Blood Drive (1/27/17)

On the afternoon of Friday January 27, our Fellowship Hall will be the site of a Red Cross Blood Drive.  Give blood?  Why??? Due to various causes, the blood supply is currently dangerously low. This isn’t about the blood supply across the country, or across the state, or even across the region.  This is about the blood supply in our area hospitals! On Friday January 27 (from 2:00 – 7:00 PM), PUMC will do their part so you can do your part.  If you’re able, consider making an...

Winter ’17 Small Groups begin Huddling! (1/23/17)

During the Fall we introduced a successful run of new small groups.  Besides the learning and studying that comes from being part of a Small Group, you also make some new friends, deepen existing relationships, and surround eachother in prayer.  True Christian Fellowship. Some of these groups are continuing, and others are being newly formed.  But all are open and welcoming new members.  As we move from the Christmas season towards Lent, now is a good time to check out the schedule of Small...

BLAST Getting Ready to Advance! (1/13/17)

Our Youth Group (BLAST) is ready to take off into their Midwinter Advance.  What’s the Midwinter Advance?  First of all, it is probably more commonly known as a “retreat,” but we  always want to look forward so we’ve latched on to the now cliche term “Advance” instead of “Retreat.”  The Advance will be held at America’s Keswick in Whiting, NJ during the weekend of January 13-15. In preparation for this weekend, our youth have been raising...

New Years Eve Silent Communion (12/31/16)

Milestones such as New Year’s Eve can be helpful reminders of re-assessing your relationship with God.  How have you grown?  How has your faith been tested?  When did you fail to heed God’s call to discipleship?  How can you be a better disciple in the future? Not only do we need to hold each other accountable, but we also need to hold ourselves accountable. Small groups and “Emmaus Reunion Groups” are important accountability tools.  But, we still need to come to the...

Choirs to Present Annual Cantata: Adore (12/18/16)

For the past gazillion years, the choir or choirs at our church have presented a service of worship through words and music (i.e., Cantata). It’s always been presented on the Sunday before Christmas… at 4:15 PM. Yes, 4:15 PM! No clue where that time came from, but… It’s Tradition! It always happens! And so another Christmas is upon us. Tradition! It always happens! But is that all it is??? Habit? Tradition? Christmas isn’t only a tradition; It’s an...

Blue Christmas Service (12/21/16)

Many of us lost loved ones during this year. Some of us lost loved ones years ago, but still feel the emptiness. For any of us, the family traditions of the holidays bring back memories of Christmases past. During this holiday season we are especially aware of those who have walked with us and who are an integral part of those memories; but now they’re gone. December  21 is the longest night of the year, and it’s an  appropriate night to acknowledge the dark times that our paths...

Single Service & Lunch Celebrate our Anniversary! (10/30/16)

Sunday October 30 has two things about it that are special to PUMC: THING 1 THING 2 Back in November of 1885,  the PITMAN GROVE METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH was organized.  From that small beginning of 43 members, we have grown into what is now the “Pitman United Methodist Church.” It’s our birthday and we are now 131 years old! It’s the 5th Sunday of the month!   So,coupled with something that’s true of us every day (we love to eat!), we’re all going to...

Open Wide for Trunk or Treat (10/29/16)

Yes, Halloween can be a time to praise our Creator.  Maybe not by getting carried away with the traditional festivities, but by sharing in God’s love, in the fellowship of friends and family, and in the bounty of His harvest and provision. We’re hosting our annual “Trunk or Treat” in our parking lot on Saturday October 29, from 6:30 to 8:30PM  Rain or shine!  This event invites volunteers to decorate the trunks of their cars in a clean, age appropriate theme.  The cars...

And PUMC people love to eat!  Starting with our first “Fun Raiser” back  in June of 2015, we have taken advantage of Friendly’s “Fun Raiser” program by packing the Glassboro Friendlys on the Third Thursday of each...
