On a beautiful Summer morning, you need to spend some quality time with family, friends (and “church family”)… and, it’s an extra bonus if you can enjoy some of the great outdoors and taste some of God’s creation at the same time!
That’s what a group of us did on Saturday 8/1/15. About 15 of us (all ages) traveled to Parvin State Park, rented canoes or kayaks, and spent some time on the lake (yes- none of our boaters spent any time IN the lake!). We got a close up view of ducks, geese, and turtles as we joined them in their neck of the woods. Most of us also explored the streams leading into Parvin Lake. A few of us encountered the spiders which dangled from the low hanging branches.
Afterwards, as we tried to regain our “land lubber legs” and work out the kinks, we filled up on the park’s offerings of hamburgers and hot dogs. Several of us then went in swimming.
Here are some pictures…
Family Time…
Hey- we’re not a social club! Our purpose is much deeper than that. We’re trying to grow closer to God. Why are we spending time renting canoes???
The people in the above pictures are friends that we canoed with. But, these same people are the ones we worship with, study with, and confide in as we share our walks together. Nurturing these relationships- even by paddling a boat on a lake- builds a community where we can help each other grow closer to Christ.
If you missed this outing, stay tuned for others! The next time you see an announcement inviting you to step into the church van, take advantage of the chance to get to know your church family.
