We welcomed Rev. Jim Bolton, wife Judy, and daughters Rebecca and Lindsey during their first Sunday with us on July 6. As Rev. Bolton said at the beginning of the service, “Worship should be fun!” And it certainly was an uplifting celebration as the Boltons joined our church family. A pastor is not only the guy in the pulpit, but he (or she) is also a vital part of our church family. We are thrilled that the Boltons now call PUMC their home!
Who Am I???
Pastor Jim and his family were introduced at the beginning of each service by our Staff Parrish Relations Committee chair, Thurman Eckfeld. Lay leader Larry Bakely presented pastor Jim with the stole which was left by Pastor Larry on his last Sunday with us (6/15/14). Pastor Jim then conducted his first service with us.
During his “Pastor’s Pals” children’s sermon, he used a business card to demonstrate that it’s one thing to “know about” someone and quite another to really “know” someone. His sermon (for the “big kids”) was entitled “Who Am I?“. After the sermon, our new pastor celebrated his first Lord’s Supper with us. The 2nd service ended with a rousing “camp meeting” rendition of the hymn “Victory in Jesus.”
Hey we’re Methodists; Gotta have Food!
After the 2nd service, we held a reception for the Boltons in the Fellowship Hall. Because of the long line of people wanting to great the family in the rear of the sanctuary, they arrived in the Fellowship Hall after the cookies and other goodies had already been “tasted,” so Pastor Jim offered a “retroactive” grace.

Looking Forward…
It was clear that the Spirit of God was present throughout the morning, and we look forward to courageously building God’s Kingdom and joyfully serving our Savior together with Jim, Judy, Rebecca, and Lindsey.
