Pitman celebrated Independence Day with its annual 4th of July Parade.
The parade traces nearly the entire stretch of Broadway and then ends in our parking lot. PUMC offers space to the parade “marchers” to disassemble floats, take a drink of water or visit the restrooms.
PUMC and its members were actively involved in the celebration.
PUMC was at the beginning of the parade….
The parade organizers selected PUMC member Mary Lou Hagerty (also affectionately known as “Mamma Lou”) to be this years Grand Marshall. Mary Lou is always active in the community, and her hospitality and love are known and respected throughout the town. Regardless of one’s last name, calling her”Mamma Lou” is appropriate for anyone to do since she has touched so many people.
PUMC was at the End of the Parade…
The walk down Broadway is long, and everyone is glad to reach the destination of the parade, which is our parking lot. Upon arrival, floats are prepared for the drive to the owner’s various destinations (at “regular road speeds”). Instruments are packed up, equipment is secured, and chairs are removed. And, people take a breather and gather together before returning home.

Great photo of Mary Lou and the end of the parade. So glad the weather held out.
