On the Fourth of July, crowds line Broadway and a parade of floats heads north towards our church.\u00a0 On \"Christmas<\/a>Thanksgiving weekend, a smaller (colder) crowd lines Broadway as a parade of floats heads south from our church.<\/p>\n

And we joined the parade with a float of our own!<\/p>\n

It was a warm evening, even if a bit drizzly.\u00a0 But the moisture didn’t dampen our enthusiasm and joy of kicking off the Advent season.\u00a0 As we rolled through the center of town, we sang Christmas Carols and joined with the town in the festive atmosphere.<\/p>\n

Christmas is truly a Joy when we actually “Keep Christ in Christmas”!<\/p>\n

Float Assembly…<\/span><\/h3>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t

On Sunday Nov. 22, we gathered in a member’s garage to assemble our float…<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

After listening to an inspiring sermon<\/a> <\/span>on Sunday morning encouraging us to DO SOMETHING<\/strong>, fourteen church members gathered to build our float for the Pitman Christmas Parade. The float was to include Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, as well as a piano player and several singers singing Christmas hymns.\u00a0 Also planned was a crowd of marchers following the float dressed as angels, shepherds, and Wisemen.<\/span><\/p>\n

After completion of the float, we had a bit of fellowship over pizza, veggies, and best of all, the most fabulous cream puffs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let’s Have a Parade!<\/span><\/h3>\n

Once again, we opened our parking lot to be used by the parade.\u00a0 On the Fourth of July, the parade ENDS in our parking lot and the participants quickly disassemble their floats in our parking lot before returning home.\u00a0 In November, the parade STARTS in our parking lot and the participants put finishing touches on their floats before “stepping off” into the parade.<\/p>\n

Here are a few pictures of our float, our “Mary and Joseph,” and our singers.\u00a0 All of the other marchers were also putting finishing touches on their floats. \u00a0 Our parking lot was a busy place as everyone prepared for the beginning of the parade…<\/p>\n\n\t\t

Yes it was raining a bit and the drops landed on camera lenses and distorted photos, but it was still a beautiful evening and a chance for the community to get together.\u00a0 Here are some pictures of and from our float as we made our way down Broadway.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
