The skies display his craftsmanship.<\/p>\n<p>2 Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known.<\/p>\n<p>3 They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard.<\/p>\n<p>4 Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.<\/p>\n<p>5 It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.<\/p>\n<p>6 The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat.<\/p>\n<p>7 The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.<\/p>\n<p>8 The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.<\/p>\n<p>9 Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair.<\/p>\n<p>10 They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb.<\/p>\n<p>11 They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.<\/p>\n<p>12 How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults.<\/p>\n<p>13 Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don&#8217;t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin.<\/p>\n<p>14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.\u00a0<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Stuff&#8230; Are You Connected to God?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Have you ever had a period in your life when you felt disconnected from God?\u00a0 Our lives can get so busy.\u00a0 We can get so filled with activity, responsibilities, and&#8230; Stuff!\u00a0 Gadgets, toys&#8230; things.\u00a0 All of this can get in the way of our ability to see God.\u00a0 Especially during this holiday season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/ducks-15026__180_400x300.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-9429 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/ducks-15026__180_400x300-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"ducks-15026__180_400x300\" width=\"231\" height=\"173\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/ducks-15026__180_400x300-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/ducks-15026__180_400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/><\/a>Sometimes we can look like a duck.\u00a0 On the surface of the water we appear to be calm; we&#8217;re floating along and we&#8217;re looking peaceful and in control.\u00a0 But under the surface of the water, we&#8217;re frantically paddling away.\u00a0 During this time of the year we&#8217;re constantly bombarded with those things that drive the underwater craziness.<\/p>\n<p>During this time of the year&#8230; and throughout the year&#8230; we need to intentionally take action to fight back against the noise.\u00a0 Otherwise, our vision and experience of God in our lives will be drowned out by the noise.<\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-warning'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When we give Thanks; even in our prayers&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">are we <span style=\"background-color: #00ff00;\">truly thankful<\/span> for Jesus?\u00a0 Are we thankful for Grace and the love from God? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Or are we <span style=\"background-color: #00ff00;\">superficially thankful<\/span> for the &#8220;stuff&#8221; and gadgets that are in our lives?<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Bible-LifeApp-Study-_0644x600.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-7999\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Bible-LifeApp-Study-_0644x600-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Bible-LifeApp-Study-_0644x600\" width=\"224\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Bible-LifeApp-Study-_0644x600-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Bible-LifeApp-Study-_0644x600.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>OK&#8230; so how do you go about getting connected or re-connected to God?\u00a0 What do you do if you&#8217;re disconnected?<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t have the answers.\u00a0 But- God&#8217;s Word does!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Find God in His Creation&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Psalm 19 verses 1-6 is the first of three sections of this Psalm.\u00a0 It reminds us that the Heavens declare God&#8217;s glory.\u00a0 One way of connecting to God is to &#8220;listen&#8221; to His creation&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge.\u00a0 There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.\u00a0 Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber&#8230;<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; and there is nothing hidden from its heat.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">Psalm 19:1-6<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There&#8217;s something powerfully special about worshiping God in the outdoors.\u00a0 There&#8217;s\u00a0 something about His creation that breathes fresh life into our spirits.\u00a0 Sitting on a beach and gazing at the distant horizon inspires us to consider the greatness of God.\u00a0 Sitting by a campfire outside of a lakeside cabin reminds us of the warmth of God&#8217;s love and tender provision.\u00a0 The sounds and smells just speak to our souls.<\/p>\n<p>But we need to listen.\u00a0 We often have the tendency to miss this opportunities to connect with God.\u00a0 Our natural tendency is to limit our vision to the immediate physical circumstances.\u00a0 We complain that it&#8217;s too cold,\u00a0 or too hot.\u00a0 We complain about the ice on the tree limbs, or the leaves cluttering our lawn.\u00a0 Instead of complaining, take a moment and stop.\u00a0 Listen to what the &#8220;Heavens&#8221; are telling you about the glory of God!<\/p>\n<p>We can use nature to look for God and to connect to Him in a special way.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<div class='et-simple-slider et_sliderfx_fade et_sliderauto_false et_sliderauto_speed_5000 et_slidertype_simple'>\n\t\t\t<div class='et-simple-slides'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-wrapper'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tWhen you think of leaves, do you think of this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/TrainTracksWestJerseyAve-Leaves-_JMaz_400x300.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9422 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/TrainTracksWestJerseyAve-Leaves-_JMaz_400x300-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"TrainTracksWestJerseyAve- Leaves _JMaz_400x300\" width=\"421\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/TrainTracksWestJerseyAve-Leaves-_JMaz_400x300-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/TrainTracksWestJerseyAve-Leaves-_JMaz_400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 421px) 100vw, 421px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div><\/p>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<p>or this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Pitman UMC&#039;s Men&#039;s Group Rakes Against the Wind (Part 1), 11\/14\/15\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4IM5l8neC10?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<p>\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tIt&#8217;s a choice. You can wonder at the creative power of God who uses leaves and the multitude of colors to frame elements of our surroundings&#8230; even railroad tracks.<\/p>\n<p>We can see our surroundings and meditate on God&#8217;s creation, or we can see an obstacle and become trapped by our own sense of order.<\/p>\n<p>To see God we have to take advantage of any opportunity to worship and to focus on Him instead of on our immediate human concerns.\u00a0 We need to be tuned into God (see Pastor Jim&#8217;s 7\/13\/14 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=2544\" target=\"_blank\">sermon<\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div> <!-- .et-simple-slider -->\n\t\t\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Find God in His Word&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>David:\u00a0 He connected with God by gazing at the wonder of creation, by singing, by dancing.\u00a0 And he\u00a0 also restored his connecting with God by pondering God&#8217;s Word.\u00a0 The Law, the inspired oral traditions, and every attribute of God drew David&#8217;s attention.\u00a0 He described the Law- the things of God- as being &#8220;Sweeter than honey&#8221;&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;<br \/>\nthe testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;<br \/>\nthe commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;<br \/>\nthe judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold;<br \/>\nsweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Moreover by them Your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">Psalm 19:7-11<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Maybe you can&#8217;t find God in the great outdoors; maybe that&#8217;s not &#8220;your thing.&#8221;\u00a0 Your idea of roughing it might be the Red Roof Inn!\u00a0 God connects with us in different ways.\u00a0 David found God in His Word.<a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Bible-Dusty-Shelf-_0637.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2654\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Bible-Dusty-Shelf-_0637-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Bible - Dusty Shelf _0637\" width=\"225\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Bible-Dusty-Shelf-_0637-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Bible-Dusty-Shelf-_0637.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In our day and age, The Word primarily comes to us through the Holy Bible.\u00a0 We need to know the Bible, but there&#8217;s a danger in knowing only about the Bible, and not knowing the Word in the Bible.\u00a0 We can debate points of theology.\u00a0 We can spend a lifetime learning about different translations, or creeds, or the history about the Bible.\u00a0 To connect with God, we can&#8217;t just &#8220;know about the word.&#8221;\u00a0 We have to connect with the &#8220;Living Word.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If we are to &#8220;delight in the Word,&#8221; we need to READ The Word.\u00a0 Follow the instructions from Deuteronomy 11:18-20&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Place these words on your hearts. Get them deep inside you. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> Teach them to your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning until you fall into bed at night. <\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Inscribe them on the doorposts and gates of your cities.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"color: #808080; font-size: 8pt;\">(from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language \u00a9 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Place on your hearts&#8230; Teach to your children&#8230; Talk wherever you are.\u00a0 Get them deep inside.<\/p>\n<p>Connecting with God through His Word isn&#8217;t just about &#8220;studying the Bible.&#8221;\u00a0 Marvin Guice, a former PUMC pastor said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #993366;\">&#8220;It&#8217;s not how many times you go through the Bible.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s how many times the Bible goes through you.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>David tells us today that we need to:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>Read scripture Out Loud!\u00a0 Read it to our kids (use an age appropriate translation).<\/li>\n<li>Talk about scripture.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hymnsite.com\/lyrics\/umh277.sht\" target=\"_blank\">Tell the stories of Jesus<\/a>.\u00a0 Tell how the Bible affects you.<\/li>\n<li>Be Receptive!\u00a0 Scripture affects people in different ways.<\/li>\n<li>Share.\u00a0 Join with a small group.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=matt+18%3A19-20&amp;version=TLB\" target=\"_blank\">Gather around Jesus<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Listen!\u00a0 Each person brings their own experiences and perspective&#8230; learn from them.<\/li>\n<li>Pray!\u00a0 In your sharing, pray together.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Bible has a way of speaking to us at just the right time with just the right words.\u00a0 <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Really!\u00a0<\/span><\/strong> Try it sometime!\u00a0 Get into the habit of reading (<em>really<\/em> reading) the Bible every day (consider a daily Bible <a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=5198\" target=\"_blank\">reading plan<\/a>).\u00a0 You&#8217;ll be amazed at how it has a way of speaking to your current situation.<\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-bio'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For the past weeks I&#8217;ve been working on this sermon and trying to identify the message I should give. Is is a coincidence that my daily email devotional this Thursday happened to be on Psalm 19?!?<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n<p>Allowing the Bible to go through you isn&#8217;t a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.museumoftalkingboards.com\/WebOuija.html\" target=\"_blank\">ouija board<\/a> method where you randomly select a verse and expect it to answer your pressing need of the moment.\u00a0 Ths Bible isn&#8217;t a once in a while thing;\u00a0 we&#8217;re supposed to read it every day.\u00a0 Allowing the Bible to go through you requires an intentional habit of opening yourself up to the Word and listening for those &#8220;coincidences&#8221; and the &#8220;still small voice&#8221; of the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Found Him!\u00a0 Now What?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>But connecting with God doesn&#8217;t stop there.\u00a0 Reflecting on a sunset or meditating on scripture can help you find God.\u00a0 But David gives us a third point:\u00a0 We have to Respond to God&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">Psalm 19:12-14<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>David is pouring out his soul.\u00a0 He&#8217;s repenting of his sins- the ones he knows about and the ones he doesn&#8217;t know about.<\/p>\n<p>In his life, David did a lot of bad things.\u00a0 We immediately think of his affair with Bathsheba and how he had her husband killed (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+samuel+11%3A1-27&amp;version=TLB\" target=\"_blank\">2 Samuel11<\/a>).\u00a0 But he did a lot of good things too&#8230; a LOT of good things (like writing this Psalm).\u00a0 Even with the lapses, David led a life of worship.\u00a0 God called David &#8220;a man after my own heart.&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=acts+13%3A20-22&amp;version=TLB\" target=\"_blank\">Acts 13:21<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>So how did he grow into that kind of relationship?\u00a0 How did David become so connected with God?<\/p>\n<p>David tells us in verses 12-14 that it&#8217;s not enough to see and hear God;\u00a0 we need to do something about it.\u00a0 We must receive God and then change our lives.<\/p>\n<p>Change?\u00a0 How?\u00a0 Change &#8220;to what?&#8221;\u00a0 When the lawyers of the day asked Jesus what the most important thing to do in this life is, Jesus replied (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+22%3A33-40&amp;version=TLB\" target=\"_blank\">Matthew 22:37-39<\/a>&#8230; and expanding on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Deuteronomy+11%3A1-14&amp;version=TLB\" target=\"_blank\">Deuteronomy 11:13<\/a>)&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8220;&#8216;Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.&#8217;\u00a0 <\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">This is the first and greatest commandment.\u00a0 And the second is like it: &#8216;Love your neighbor as yourself.&#8217;<\/span><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 NIV<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>James (the brother of Jesus) says the same thing (James 1:22-25)&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a0Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.\u00a0 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror\u00a0 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. <\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it \u2014 he will be blessed in what he does.<\/span><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NIV<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Do we fully understand what the implications of these two truths are?<\/p>\n<p>Allow the Word of God to change you!\u00a0 God calls us through His creation and His Word.\u00a0 but we must look and listen.\u00a0 We must respond if we are going to connect with God.\u00a0 There&#8217;s no such thing as a &#8220;Passive Christian.&#8221;\u00a0 We must respond.\u00a0 God calls us to do something with our faith.\u00a0 Like the many people who God used in a mighty and everlasting way, we to must Go and Do.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<div class='tabs-left et_sliderfx_fade et_sliderauto_false et_sliderauto_speed_5000 et_slidertype_left_tabs clearfix'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et_left_tabs_bg'><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<ul class='et-tabs-control'>\n\t\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tMOSES\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tJONAH\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tJOSEPH\n\t\t<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t<\/ul> <!-- .et-tabs-control --> \n\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content'>\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-main-wrap'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-wrapper'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tWe all remember Moses and the Burning Bush (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=exodus+3%3A1-4%3A31&amp;version=TLB\" target=\"_blank\">Exodus chapters 3 and 4<\/a>).\u00a0 But if he never left his comfort zone and went to Pharoah and told him to &#8220;<strong><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Let my people Go!<\/span><\/em><\/strong>&#8221; we&#8217;d never have heard of Moses or his miraculous encounter with God.\u00a0 God would have found someone else.<\/p>\n<p>And yet, Moses was reluctant at first.\u00a0 He grumbled.\u00a0 He even argued with God.\u00a0 He pleaded that God find someone else.<\/p>\n<p>But God was calling <strong>him<\/strong>.\u00a0 He went and did&#8230; and he connected with God.\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tWe all remember Jonah and the the big fish that swallowed him (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=jonah+1%3A1-17&amp;version=TLB\" target=\"_blank\">Jonah chapter 1<\/a>).\u00a0 But if he didn&#8217;t change his mind; step out of his comfort zone to obey God and warn Ninevah, we&#8217;d never have heard of Jonah or his miraculous encounter with God.\u00a0 God would have found someone else.<\/p>\n<p>But God was calling <strong>him<\/strong>.\u00a0 He went and did&#8230; and he connected with God.\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tAnd what about Joseph (Jesus&#8217; earthly father)?\u00a0 His fiancee was &#8220;found to be with child.&#8221;\u00a0 It was a disgrace!\u00a0 Obviously Mary had been running around and cheating on Joseph. \u00a0 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=matthew+1%3A18-25&amp;version=TLB\" target=\"_blank\">Matthew\u00a01:18-25<\/a>).\u00a0 Joseph was wronged and it was his right (even obligation) to have this cheating woman stoned to death.\u00a0 Joseph was going to divorce Mary.<\/p>\n<p>But God called Joseph in a dream and Joseph responded.\u00a0 He stepped out of his comfort zone.\u00a0 But if he didn&#8217;t change his mind,\u00a0 God would have found someone else.<\/p>\n<p>But God was calling <strong>him<\/strong>.\u00a0 He went and did&#8230; and he connected with God.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div> <!-- .tabs-left -->\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_9466\" style=\"width: 214px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Cross-Emmaus.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9466\" class=\"wp-image-9466\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Cross-Emmaus-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Cross Emmaus\" width=\"204\" height=\"153\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Cross-Emmaus-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Cross-Emmaus.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 204px) 100vw, 204px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-9466\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Christ is counting on you<\/p><\/div>\n<p>What is God calling\u00a0 you to do? We live in a relatively safe and quiet small\u00a0 town of Pitman.\u00a0 But only 18 miles down the road is Camden; a place that looks much different from Pitman. Camden is a place with many needs&#8230; what are we doing about it?<\/p>\n<p>God is saying to each of us &#8220;I need you!&#8221;\u00a0 He may not be calling you do go to Africa or to preach a sermon.\u00a0 But maybe He&#8217;s calling you to serve in the kitchen.\u00a0 Maybe it&#8217;s to join with a small group.\u00a0 Maybe it&#8217;s to usher.
