\"Signboard<\/a>We spend a lot of time in this church reading the Bible.\u00a0 We all want to understand it better.\u00a0 But what do we do with this knowledge?\u00a0 Do we share it with others? Do we somehow use it to hit others over the head with the Bible to convince them of our point?\u00a0 Or do we try to show others how “smart” we are?<\/p>\n

Sometimes we’re tempted to quote chapter and verse to sound impressive.\u00a0 Know any Greek?\u00a0 That always grabs some attention.\u00a0 Have you traveled to Jerusalem, toured all of the holy spots, floated in the Dead Sea, taken communion at the Garden Tomb?\u00a0\u00a0 What do you do with your knowledge and experience?<\/p>\n

Here’s a familiar verse from Paul:<\/p>\n

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness… “<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

2 Timothy 3:16<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Every time we discuss the importance of scripture and how the Bible is truly God’s Word, we quote this verse.\u00a0 And it’s an important truth.<\/p>\n

But take a look at the next verse:<\/p>\n

\n

…so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.<\/span> <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

2 Timothy 3:17<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\"Nose\"<\/a>Knowledge and mountaintop experiences are truly gifts from God that allow us to draw closer to Him.\u00a0 But He’s not giving us these gifts so we can “Blow our Knows”!\u00a0 We don’t “teach and rebuke” to show how smart we are.\u00a0\u00a0 Knowledge isn’t for our own good; it’s not for us to keep in for ourselves.\u00a0 It’s not for us to use it in a way that builds ourselves up.<\/p>\n

Here’s how Paul opened his letter to Titus:<\/p>\n

Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of God’s elect and the knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness<\/span>\u2014<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Titus 1:1<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Wisdom is using your knowledge to build up the church and to help equip others for “every good work.”\u00a0 It’s sharing it for the faith of God’s elect so that all of us can become more Godly.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tProv 12:18<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.\u00a0\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t
\n\t\t\tProv 13:14<\/span><\/strong> The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t
\n\t\t\tProv 15:7<\/span><\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0 The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tProv 16:23<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A wise man’s heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tProv 26:12<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t
\n\t\t\tProv 27:11<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be wise, my son, and bring joy to my heart; then I can answer anyone who treats me with contempt.\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/p>\n

Use your Knows for God’s glory.
