I could demand it in the name of Christ because it is the right thing for you to do. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">9 But because of our love, I prefer simply to ask you. Consider this as a request from me\u2014Paul, an old man and now also a prisoner for the sake of Christ Jesus. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">10 I appeal to you to show kindness to my child, Onesimus. I became his father in the faith while here in prison. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">11 Onesimus hasn&#8217;t been of much use to you in the past, but now he is very useful to both of us. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">12 I am sending him back to you, and with him comes my own heart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">13 I wanted to keep him here with me while I am in these chains for preaching the Good News, and he would have helped me on your behalf. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">14 But I didn&#8217;t want to do anything without your consent. I wanted you to help because you were willing, not because you were forced. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">15 It seems Onesimus ran away for a little while so that you could have him back forever. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">16 He is no longer like a slave to you. He is more than a slave, for he is a beloved brother, especially to me. Now he will mean much more to you, both as a man and as a brother in the Lord.<\/span>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">17 So if you consider me your partner, welcome him as you would welcome me. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">18 If he has wronged you in any way or owes you anything, charge it to me. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">19 I, Paul, Write This With My Own Hand: I Will Repay It. And I Won&#8217;t Mention That You Owe Me Your Very Soul!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">20 Yes, my brother, please do me this favor for the Lord&#8217;s sake. Give me this encouragement in Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">21 I am confident as I write this letter that you will do what I ask and even more! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">22 One more thing\u2014please prepare a guest room for me, for I am hoping that God will answer your prayers and let me return to you soon.<\/span>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">23 Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you his greetings. 24 So do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my co-workers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">25 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Holy Bible, New Living Translation \u00ae, copyright \u00a9 1996, 2004 by Tyndale Charitable Trust. All rights reserved.<\/span><\/em><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class='et-box et-bio'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Abraham Lincoln, when an attorney, was approached by a wealthy man who passionately insisted on bringing a lawsuit for $2.50 against an impoverished debtor.\u00a0 Lincoln tried to discourage him, but the man was bent on restitution.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When he saw that the man would not change his mind, Lincoln agreed to take the case and asked for a legal fee\u00a0 of $10. which the plaintiff paid.\u00a0 Lincoln then gave half the money to the defendant, who willingly confessed to the debt and paid the $2.50!<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n<p>Grace&#8230; NOT restitution, brings restoration.\u00a0 Bible teacher and preacher Harry Ironside was once asked what his most favorite sermon was.\u00a0 He replied that it was a sermon on Philemon entitled, &#8220;<strong><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Charge that to My Account<\/span><\/em><\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Like Lincoln&#8230; like the renowned teacher Harry Ironside&#8230; like Jesus- we are called to an attitude where we allow others to &#8220;<strong><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Charge that to my account.<\/span><\/em><\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Paul tells Philemon that he will pay for any damages caused by Onesimus.\u00a0 Jesus tells the Father that He will pay for the damages caused by us!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Philemon Had True Faith<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In verses 4-7, Paul describes Philemon as one who has a faith which is loving and generous.\u00a0 Philemon somehow refreshes the Christians who are touched by him.\u00a0 Philemon had a true faith.\u00a0 But Paul was putting him in a position where he had to test his true faith by forgiving his runaway slave.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">True faith demands intentional forgiveness.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The late Scottish theologian William Barclay wrote (in his commentary on Philemon)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Philemon was a man whose faith in Christ and whose love to reach the brethren (everyone) knew, and the story of them had reached even Rome where Paul was in prison.<\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It was dangerous to be a Christian in Philemon&#8217;s time.\u00a0 And yet he bore the fruits of Jesus Christ as he worked to refresh and encourage Christians.<\/p>\n<p>Love,\u00a0 hospitality, and generosity were all the gifts and graces that defined Philemon.\u00a0 Paul wrote about these qualities in Romans 12:12-19.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s how Eugene Peterson paraphrased this passage&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">12 Be alert servants of the Master,\u00a0 cheerfully expectant. Don&#8217;t quit in hard times; pray all the harder.\u00a0 Help needy Christians; be inventive in hospitality.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">14 Bless your enemies; no cursing under your breath.\u00a0 Laugh with your happy friends when they&#8217;re happy; share tears when they&#8217;re down.\u00a0 Get along with each other; don&#8217;t be stuck-up. Make friends with nobodies; don&#8217;t be the great somebody.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">17 Don&#8217;t hit back; discover beauty in everyone.\u00a0 If you&#8217;ve got it in you, get along with everybody.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t insist on getting even; that&#8217;s not for you to do. &#8220;I&#8217;ll do the judging,&#8221; says God. &#8220;I&#8217;ll take care of it.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 8pt; color: #999999;\">(from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language \u00a9 2002 by Eugene H. Holy Bible, NLT\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div> <!-- .tabs-left -->\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Philemon vs. Onesimus&#8230; They&#8217;re not standing on the same &#8220;legal ground&#8221; as we humans would think.\u00a0 Philemon had been wronged, Onesimus was the guilty one.<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-color: #52870c; background-color: #e3e6b8; width: 606px; height: 161px;\" border=\"14\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">PHILEMON<\/span><\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">ONESIMUS<\/span><\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">Faithful Christian known for his generosity and devotion to Christ.<\/td>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">A runaway slave who had somehow offended Philemon and fled.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">Had a RIGHT to be angry and demand restitution.<\/td>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">Had no rights.\u00a0 Had only his faith in Christ and Paul&#8217;s request for grace.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Paul encourages Philemon to allow the power of forgiveness found in the Gospel to lead him to forgive, encourage, and restore Onesmius.\u00a0 Forgive him unconditionally.\u00a0 Philemon had the right to destroy Onesimus, but he also had the opportunity to put away his own rights and to restore Onesimus instead.<\/p>\n<p>The Gospel gives us the power to change lives.<\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-download'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">James Denney was a 19th century theologian, preacher and educator.\u00a0 He believed strongly in the power of the Gospel to bring change into people&#8217;s lives.\u00a0 One time Denny wrote,<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #993366;\">Christianity is the power which can make bad men good.<\/span>&#8220;<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<p>In verse 16 Paul encourages Philemon to not see Onesimus as anything but a brother in Christ.\u00a0 Then in verse 17 he tells him to welcome Onesimus as he would Paul himself!<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a tall order!\u00a0 But true faith demands that we forgive.\u00a0 And true faith gives us the power to forgive and to withhold the gospel from no one.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">True Faith Refreshes the Saints<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In verse 7, Paul writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.\u00a0<\/em> <\/span><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>NIV<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Forgiveness- letting someone off the hook- is refreshing.\u00a0 Like Irish Spring!<\/p>\n<p>The protestant reformer, Martin Luther wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Here in Philemon we see how St. Paul lays himself out for poor Onesimus, and with all his means pleads his cause with his master: and so sets himself as if he were Onesimus, and had himself done wrong to Philemon.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Even as Christ did for us with God the Father, thus also St.\u00a0 Paul does for Onesimus with Philemon&#8221;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #999999;\">(Steven Kaung, &#8220;seeing Christ in the New Testament, p325)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Paul would instruct the Christians in Ephesus to &#8220;<strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Be kind and loving to each other, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ<\/span><\/em><\/strong>&#8221; (Ephesians 4:32)<\/p>\n<p>Over and over, the Bible tells us to have a forgiving attitude because we are forgiven people through Christ:<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<div class='tabs-left et_sliderfx_fade et_sliderauto_false et_sliderauto_speed_5000 et_slidertype_left_tabs clearfix'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et_left_tabs_bg'><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<ul class='et-tabs-control'>\n\t\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t1 Corinthians 13:4\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tLuke 17:4\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tMark 11:25\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t1 John 1:9\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t1 John 2:12\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tColossians 3:12\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t2 Corinthians 2:10\n\t\t<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t<\/ul> <!-- .et-tabs-control --> \n\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content'>\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-main-wrap'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-wrapper'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tLove is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tIf he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, &#8216;I repent,&#8217; <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">forgive<\/span> him.&#8221;\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tAnd when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">forgive him<\/span>, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.&#8221;\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tIf we confess our sins, <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">he is faithful and just and will forgive<\/span> us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tI write to you, dear children, because <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">your sins have been forgiven<\/span> on account of his name.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tTherefore, as God&#8217;s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.\u00a0 Bear with each other and <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">forgive<\/span> whatever grievances you may have against one another. <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">Forgive as the Lord forgave you.<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tIf you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven \u2014 if there was anything to forgive \u2014 <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake<\/span>.\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div> <!-- .tabs-left -->\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><em><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0Can you recite the Lord&#8217;s Prayer?<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Most\u00a0 of us learned it in Sunday School and can\u00a0 proudly answer\u00a0 that question with a bold &#8220;Of Course!!!&#8221;\u00a0 But what does Jesus say immediately AFTER the Lord&#8217;s Prayer?\u00a0 Click below for the answer&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class='et-learn-more clearfix'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class='heading-more'>After Lord&#039;s Prayer?<span class='et_learnmore_arrow'><span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='learn-more-content'>Matt 6:13-15 13<\/p>\n<p>13 <em><span style=\"color: #00ff00;\">And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.&#8217;&#8230;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>14 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>15 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>Jesus commanded us over and over to forgive:\u00a0 &#8220;<strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Judge not and you shall not be\u00a0 judged<\/span><\/em><\/strong>&#8221; (Luke 6:37), &#8220;<strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Forgive 70 times 7<\/span><\/em><\/strong>&#8221; (Matthew 18:21), and of course there&#8217;s the parable about the plank in your eye.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t judge.\u00a0 Just keep on forgiving.\u00a0 Otherwise you&#8217;ll just be imprisoning yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Solomon wrote about this too.\u00a0 Check out Proverbs 19:11&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">A man&#8217;s wisdom gives him patience;<\/span><\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">it is to his glory to overlook an offense.<\/span> <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In other words, overlooking a transgression is to look beyond the transgression.\u00a0 As we forgive, we bring glory to God.\u00a0 Forgiveness bridges the gap back to God, removes tension, and provides refreshment.\u00a0 But when we withhold forgiveness, we put up walls and rob ourselves of God&#8217;s blessings.<\/p>\n<p>God promises to forgive us&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Psalm 103:12&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">As far as the east is from the west,\u00a0 so far has he removed our transgressions from us.<\/span> <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Isaiah 38:17&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction;<\/span><\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">you have put all my sins behind your back.<\/span> <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When our sins are &#8220;put behind His back,&#8221; we&#8217;re better able to extend forgiveness to others and to offer refreshment and encouragement.\u00a0 The power of the gospel will make us better people, to be examples of Christ in the world, and to extend forgiveness.\u00a0 And, maybe we&#8217;ll loose that image of being &#8220;judgmental&#8221; font-size: 14pt;\">E-A-G-L-E-S\u00a0\u00a0Eagles!!!<\/span><\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Do we have that kind of passion for the church?\u00a0 Do we have that kind of passion about Jesus and the things of God.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t be afraid to speak for Jesus!\u00a0 In fact, the more you speak for Him, the more you&#8217;ll find greater boldness in doing this.\u00a0 True faith in the Lord shares that faith because we know He\u00a0 is the way, the truth, and the life.<\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-shadow'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><p><a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Dr-Pepper-Can.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-8006\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Dr-Pepper-Can-150x300.jpg\" alt=\"Dr Pepper Can\" width=\"80\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Dr-Pepper-Can-150x300.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Dr-Pepper-Can.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 80px) 100vw, 80px\" \/><\/a><em><span style=\"color: #000080;\">OK&#8230; How&#8217;s this Dr. Pepper stuff figure in?&#8230;..<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">One of my favorite soft drinks is Dr. Pepper.\u00a0 It&#8217;s got a unique taste and for me at least, quenches my thirst.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In 1977 until 1895 they had a jingle\u00a0 which said, &#8220;<\/span><strong><em><span style=\"color: #993366;\">I&#8217;m a pepper, he&#8217;s a Pepper, she&#8217;s a Pepper, we&#8217;re a Pepper&#8230; Wouldn&#8217;t you like to be a Pepper too???<\/span><\/em><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Relive those glory days of the 70s!&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dr. Pepper - &quot;I&#039;m a Pepper&quot; TV Commercial 70&#039;s\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jvCTaccEkMI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This jingle is an INVITATION to become a participant in the Dr.\u00a0 Pepper experience!\u00a0 It&#8217;s an invitation to come and be refreshed.\u00a0 When you think about it, that jingle is a witness to what Dr. Pepper means to people and what it does in their lives.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In verse 6 Paul writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a0<strong><em>I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.\u00a0<\/em> <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are called to be active in sharing our faith.\u00a0 God has called you, like Philemon, to be &#8220;pepper-uppers&#8221; to people.\u00a0 That&#8217;s what true faith in the Lord does!<\/p>\n<p>Like Eagles fans, are we passionate about our church?\u00a0 Are we passionate about Jesus Christ?\u00a0 Just as the Holy Spirit refreshes us through the people of God, we have the power to go out and refresh others.<\/p>\n<p>Over and over, the Bible calls us to be encouragers&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<div class='tabs-left et_sliderfx_fade et_sliderauto_false et_sliderauto_speed_5000 et_slidertype_left_tabs clearfix'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et_left_tabs_bg'><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<ul class='et-tabs-control'>\n\t\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tRomans 1:11-12\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tColossians 4:7-8\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t1 Thessalonians 3:2\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t1 Thessalonians 5:10-11\n\t\t<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t<\/ul> <!-- .et-tabs-control --> \n\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content'>\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-main-wrap'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-wrapper'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tI long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong\u2014 that is, that you and I may be mutually <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">encouraged<\/span> by each other&#8217;s faith.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tTychicus will tell you all the news about me. He is a dear brother, a faithful minister and fellow servant in the Lord.\u00a0 I am sending him to you for the express purpose that you may know about our circumstances and that he may <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">encourage<\/span> your hearts.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tWe sent Timothy, who is our brother and God&#8217;s fellow worker in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">encourage<\/span> you in your faith,\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tHe died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">encourage one another<\/span> and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div> <!-- .tabs-left -->\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-bio'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Many years ago, a man by the name of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cyberhymnal.org\/bio\/r\/o\/b\/robinson_r.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Robert Robinson <\/a><\/span>was riding in a stagecoach.\u00a0 Another passenger in the coach was humming a verse of the hymn &#8220;Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.&#8221;\u00a0 She asked Robinson what he thought of the hymn she was humming.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">His answer was a strange one.\u00a0 He said, &#8220;Madam, I am the poor unhappy man who wrote that hymn many years ago, and I would give a thousand worlds, if I had them, to enjoy the feelings I had then.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Robinson had gone through some bad times and had lost the passion of his faith.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">God called this woman to bring him refreshment at that time.\u00a0 She didn&#8217;t know who he was, but because she was &#8220;a pepper&#8221; she brought refreshment.\u00a0\u00a0 Because of that encounter, Robinson later returned to the faith and remained faithful until the day he went home to be with the Lord.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;
