Praise Teams Support Church in Mexico (3\/22\/15)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"color: #000080;\">On the evening of Sunday 3\/22\/15, some of the best praise teams from area UMC churches came to PUMC to present a concert.\u00a0 It was not only a time of worship, but an opportunity to support a sister UMC church in La Palmilla Mexico&#8230;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-info'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Methodist church in <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" title=\"La Palmilla\" href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?page_id=4694\" target=\"_blank\">La\u00a0Palmilla<\/a><\/span> may be economically impoverished (at least according to our standards), but they are rich in their love for the Lord and in their service for His Kingdom.\u00a0 But, they&#8217;re bursting at the seams and they really need a new Sanctuary!\u00a0 For years, PUMC and other local UMC churches have raised funds and sent mission teams to La Palmilla to help them build this new church.<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n<p>This Summer (from July 16 through 27) a mission team consisting of members from PUMC and other local churches will head to Mexico to support our friends in La Pamilla.\u00a0 Our mission team has three goals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Raise money for the continued construction of the new sanctuary.<\/li>\n<li>Physically contribute to the labor on the construction (which in turn helps them save money on labor costs).<\/li>\n<li>Live among them and share the love of Jesus with the congregation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As we share our love of Jesus with this church, we also support them in their efforts to take the Good News of God&#8217;s love and redemption to people of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.maps-of-mexico.com\/veracruz-state-mexico\/veracruz-state-mexico-map-main.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">Veracruz<\/a><\/span> class=\"wp-caption-text\">Some of the auction items available<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In order to raise funds for the La Palmilla church, we held a silent auction in the Fellowship Hall before (and after) the concert.\u00a0 Items were on display and people wrote their bids on sheets next to each item.<\/p>\n<p>Interesting items sold included Flyers tickets, an Eagles autographed football, a handmade quilt, gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses, hand crafted wooden items, and different baskets filled with candles, cleaning supplies, Christian books\/DVDs, bath &amp; body relaxations items to name a few. One of the most popular items bid on was a handmade candy dispenser made by Pastor Glenn Chaplin. Although the retail value was only $20, the bidding was so fierce that the winner paid $100!<\/p>\n<p>Items were supplied by individuals and local merchants<br \/>\n(<strong><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Thanks to all for your generous donations!)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Praise Band Concert&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The concert featured six &#8220;Praise Bands&#8221; from four local United Methodist Churches:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Pitman UMC\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Praise-Team-_IMG_1757.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-6441 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Praise-Team-_IMG_1757-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Praise Team _IMG_1757\" width=\"258\" height=\"193\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Praise-Team-_IMG_1757-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Praise-Team-_IMG_1757.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 258px) 100vw, 258px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Trinity UMC (Mullica Hill)<\/li>\n<li>Mantua UMC<\/li>\n<li>Richwood UMC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each group sang two or three songs, and everyone in attendance was treated to a special time of worship.\u00a0 At the end of the concert, all of the bands got together for a rendition of &#8220;Carrier&#8221;<br \/>\n(<em><span style=\"color: #993300;\">We&#8217;re called to be carriers of love and devotion&#8230; and with the change in our pocket we can change the world!<\/span><\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Praise God!<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>About 200 people attended, and between the love offering the auction items sold, we raised $4,075!
