NKJV<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>Mary is standing at the cross; watching her son die.\u00a0 Her baby; her boy.\u00a0 When Jesus speaks to her He is acknowledging that special relationship.\u00a0 But He&#8217;s also telling her that things are changing.\u00a0 The <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyrics.net\/lyric\/3087180\" target=\"_blank\">song<\/a><\/span> &#8220;Mary Did You Know&#8221; (which was sung before the sermon), includes the line &#8220;<strong><em><span style=\"color: #000080;\">And the One that you delivered, will soon deliver you.<\/span><\/em><\/strong>&#8221;\u00a0 With these words, that truth is now being revealed.<a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Crucifixion-_Evgraf_Semenovich_Sorokin.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-6198\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Crucifixion-_Evgraf_Semenovich_Sorokin-300x253.jpg\" alt=\"Crucifixion _Evgraf_Semenovich_Sorokin\" width=\"143\" height=\"121\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Crucifixion-_Evgraf_Semenovich_Sorokin-300x253.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Crucifixion-_Evgraf_Semenovich_Sorokin.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 143px) 100vw, 143px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jesus demonstrates a wonderful care, concern, and compassion for His earthly mother.\u00a0 There was a human mother-son relationship built on the love of a mother who cared for her &#8220;baby&#8221; throughout his earthly life.\u00a0 As any mother who saves locks of hair, kindergarten drawings, and a life full of tender moments,\u00a0 Luke 2:51 says that Mary &#8220;<strong><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">treasured all these things in her heart.<\/span><\/em><\/strong>&#8221; Let&#8217;s look at things from Mary&#8217;s perspective&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\t\t<div class='et-simple-slider et_sliderfx_fade et_sliderauto_false et_sliderauto_speed_5000 et_slidertype_simple'>\n\t\t\t<div class='et-simple-slides'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-wrapper'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tLuke 1:30-33<\/p>\n<p>Then the angel said to her, &#8220;Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. \u00a0 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. \u00a0\u00a0 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. NKJV\n\t\t<\/div><\/p>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tLuke 1:46-48<\/p>\n<p>And Mary said: &#8220;My soul magnifies the Lord, \u00a0 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. \u00a0 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.<\/p>\n<p>NKJV\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tLuke 2:18-20<\/p>\n<p>And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. \u00a0 But Mary kept all these things and <span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">pondered them in her heart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NKJV\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tLuke 2:34-35<\/p>\n<p>Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, &#8220;Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against \u00a0 (yes, a <span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">sword will pierce through your own soul<\/span> also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.&#8221; NKJV\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tMatt 2:16-17<\/p>\n<p>Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men. NKJV\n\t\t<\/div>\n<p>\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tLuke 2:46-50<\/p>\n<p>Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple,<span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"> sitting in the midst of the teachers<\/span>, both listening to them and asking them questions. \u00a0 And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. \u00a0 So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, &#8220;Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And He said to them, &#8220;Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father&#8217;s business?&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 NKJV\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div> <!-- .et-simple-slider -->\n\t\t\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Mary- Did You know that He was the Messiah?<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.moodymedia.org\/ask-pastor-lutzer\/\" target=\"_blank\">Erwin Lutzer<\/a><\/span>, the senior pastor of the historic Moody Bible Church in Chicago wrote a beautiful poem about this scene (in his book &#8220;Cries from the Cross&#8221;):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">She who had planted kisses on the brow of that little Child<br \/>\n&#8230;Now saw those hands pierced with nails.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">She who had cradled Him in her arms<br \/>\n&#8230; now saw Him writhing along on\u00a0 the garbage dump of Jerusalem.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">She who loved Him at birth<br \/>\n&#8230; came to love Him even more in death.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Although Mary knew this day was coming, how was she to prepare?<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 1000 years before Mary gave birth to Jesus, the Holy Spirit inspired David to write about the crucifixion. \u00a0 We read these words in Psalm 22:9-11&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">But You are He who took Me out of the womb;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">You made Me trust while on My mother&#8217;s breasts. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">I was cast upon You from birth.\u00a0 From My mother&#8217;s womb<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">You have been My God.\u00a0 Be not far from Me,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">For trouble is near;\u00a0 For there is none to help.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0 NKJV<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class='et-box et-shadow'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">&#8220;Honor Your Father and Mother&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">In this tender conversation He was having with Mary, Jesus was honoring the 5th Commandment which states, &#8220;<span style=\"background-color: #ffcc00;\">Honor Your Mother and Your Father.<\/span>&#8221; (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Exodus+20%3A1-12&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\">Exodus 20:12<\/a><\/span>). <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Right to the very end, Jesus demonstrates that command for us to follow.\u00a0 Throughout His ministry, He reminded people of the importance of this command (and Paul picked up on it later)&#8230;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-container et_sliderfx_fade et_sliderauto_false et_sliderauto_speed_5000 et_slidertype_top_tabs'>\n\t\t\t\t<ul class='et-tabs-control'>\n\t\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tMatthew 19:17-19\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tMark 7:10-13\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tEphesians 6:2-3\n\t\t<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t<\/ul> <!-- .et-tabs-control --> \n\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content'>\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-main-wrap'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-wrapper'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tSo He said to him, &#8220;Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.&#8221;\u00a0 He said to Him, &#8220;Which ones?&#8221; Jesus said, &#8220;&#8216;You shall not murder,&#8217; &#8216;You shall not commit adultery,&#8217; &#8216;You shall not steal,&#8217; &#8216;You shall not bear false witness,&#8217; \u00a0 &#8216;<span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">Honor your father and your mother<\/span>,&#8217; and, &#8216;You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'&#8221; NKJV\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tFor Moses said, &#8216;<span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">Honor your father and your mother<\/span>&#8216;; and, &#8216;He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.&#8217; \u00a0 But you say, &#8216;If a man says to his father or mother, &#8220;Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban&#8221; \u2014 &#8216; (that is, a gift to God), \u00a0 then you no longer let him do anything for his father or his mother, \u00a0 making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.&#8221; NKJV\n\t\t<\/div>\n<p>\n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\tChildren, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. \u00a0 &#8220;<span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">Honor your father and mother,<\/span>&#8221; which is the first commandment with promise: \u00a0 &#8220;that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.&#8221; NKJV\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div> <!-- .et-tabs-container --><\/div><\/div>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>Woman behold your son&#8230;<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jesus doesn&#8217;t say &#8220;Mommy.&#8221;\u00a0 Addressing someone as &#8220;woman&#8221; in our culture may be taken as a sign of disrespect, but it wasn&#8217;t taken that way in the time of Jesus.\u00a0 Instead, Jesus is living out His mission statement even while dying on the cross.\u00a0 In Luke 19:10, Jesus told us why He came to earth:\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;<strong><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.<\/span><\/em><\/strong>&#8221; In this moment; hanging between earthly life and divine glory, Jesus is telling Mary to &#8220;Behold your Savior.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Relationships are changing.\u00a0 Jesus is teaching us four things&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">1:\u00a0 Repairing Relationships<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>When Jesus was arrested, all of the disciples took off.\u00a0 But John came back and showed up at the cross.\u00a0 So Jesus tells John, &#8220;It&#8217;s OK.\u00a0 I know your heart.\u00a0 I trust you, and I want you to take care of my earthly Mom.&#8221;\u00a0 John ditched Jesus, but Jesus is restoring the relationship.\u00a0 The work of God is left in broken sinful hands.<\/p>\n<p>His relationship with Mary is changing:<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Mary needed to be saved by the grace of God just like every other human who ever walked on the earth.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Woman.\u00a0 We have a new relationship now.\u00a0 Jesus came to restore relationships; relationships between God and people.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">2:\u00a0 Providing an Example<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>John was asked to care for Jesus&#8217; mother.\u00a0 As far as we can tell, she was a widow.\u00a0 She was part of the &#8220;Church.&#8221;\u00a0 Jesus instructs John to care for her.<\/p>\n<p>During the communion service before <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=6187\" target=\"_blank\">yesterday&#8217;s<\/a><\/span> District Day of Learning, our District Superintendent Rev. Jisun Kwak reminded us of Jesus&#8217; prayer in John 17:18 (&#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">As you have sent Me into the world, I have sent them into the world.<\/span><\/em>&#8220;)\u00a0 We are called to be the hands of feet of Jesus for widows and children and the lost of the world.\u00a0 As Jesus calls John to care for this widow, Jesus calls us to a similar ministry. God calls us to care for the world&#8217;s needy&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-container et_sliderfx_fade et_sliderauto_false et_sliderauto_speed_5000 et_slidertype_top_tabs'>\n\t\t\t\t<ul class='et-tabs-control'>\n\t\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tJames\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tGalatians\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tIsaiah\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tMatthew\n\t\t<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t<\/ul> <!-- .et-tabs-control --> \n\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content'>\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-main-wrap'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-wrapper'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">James 1:27<\/span><\/strong> Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Galatians 6:9-10<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Isaiah 1:16-17<\/span> <\/strong>wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight! Stop doing wrong. Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Matthew 25:41-43<\/span><\/strong> &#8220;Then he will say to those on his left, &#8216;Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.&#8217; (<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+25%3A34-46&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\">Matthew 25:34-46<\/a> for the entire passage<\/span><\/em><\/span>).\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div> <!-- .et-tabs-container -->\n<p>By this example of asking John to care for His mother, Jesus is asking us- His Church- to care for others.<\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-info'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Author Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.\u00a0 The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.\u00a0 The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly man who had recently lost his wife.\u00a0 When the little boy saw the man cry, the boy went into the man&#8217;s yard,climbed up on his lap,\u00a0 and just sat there.\u00a0 When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, &#8220;Nothing.\u00a0 I just helped him cry.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Is there anyone you can help cry?<\/span>\u00a0 As He called John, Jesus is calling us.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">3: Announcing the Coming Church<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to remember that the Christian Church is a group of people who have been called by God, redeemed by God and given entirely new relationships.\u00a0 We&#8217;re called\u00a0 to relate to each other as &#8220;brother&#8221;and &#8220;sister,&#8221; doing whatever we can to care for each other.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers.\u00a0 Everyone around was in awe \u2014 all those wonders and signs done through the apostles!\u00a0 And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person&#8217;s need was met.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Acts 2:42-45, The Message<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The church is here to help you connect with God and with others.\u00a0 Take advantage of it!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">4:\u00a0 Illustrating Adoption<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>From that moment on, John was to care for Mary as his own mother, and Mary was to see John as her own son.\u00a0 In a sense, Jesus was authorizing the adoption of each other to each other&#8217;s care.<\/p>\n<p>In the same way, because of the crucifixion of Christ, we can be &#8220;adopted&#8221; into the family of God.\u00a0 Check out Romans 8:12-17&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Therefore, brethren, we are debtors \u2014 not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.\u00a0 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. \u00a0 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of <span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">adoption<\/span> by whom we cry out, &#8220;Abba, Father.&#8221; \u00a0 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,\u00a0 and if children, then heirs \u2014 heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0 NKJV<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And that remains God&#8217;s desire throughout all time.\u00a0 God is patient- &#8220;long suffering.&#8221;\u00a0 He wants us to come to repentance and be adopted as His children&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-container et_sliderfx_fade et_sliderauto_false et_sliderauto_speed_5000 et_slidertype_top_tabs'>\n\t\t\t\t<ul class='et-tabs-control'>\n\t\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t2 Peter\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\t1 Tim\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tHab\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tIsa\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tPsa\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tRom\n\t\t<\/a><\/li> \n\t\t<li><a href='#'>\n\t\t\tEx\n\t\t<\/a><\/li>\n\t\t<\/ul> <!-- .et-tabs-control --> \n\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content'>\n\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-main-wrap'>\n\t\t\t\t<div class='et-tabs-content-wrapper'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">2 Peter 3:9<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">1 Timothy 2:3-4<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Habakkuk 2:3<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Isaiah 30:18<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Psalm 86:15<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Romans 2:4<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Exodus 34:6<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, &#8220;The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth.\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div> <!-- .et-tabs-container -->\n<p>As the Lord waits and as we wait on\u00a0 the Lord, we have been growing in God&#8217;s heart&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-info'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><span style=\"color: #000000;\">One day a first grade teacher showed her class a picture of a family.\u00a0 One little boy in the picture had different colored hair than the other family members.\u00a0 One child suggested\u00a0 that he was\u00a0 probably adopted. Just then a little girls said,\u00a0 &#8220;I know all about adoptions because I was adopted.\u00a0 To be adopted means that you grew in your mommy&#8217;s heart instead\u00a0 of her tummy.&#8221;<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">So What&#8217;s it all Mean?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The relationship between Mary and Jesus is changing.\u00a0 For about 33 years, Jesus has been the human son of Mary.\u00a0 But, He was also the Son of God.\u00a0 He took on human flesh- thanks to His mother-\u00a0 so\u00a0 He could become the Redeemer of the world.\u00a0 And that is why He is now on the cross.<\/p>\n<p>On the cross the human life of Jesus is slipping away.\u00a0 The physical and the spiritual are mysteriously coming together in some sort of timeless eternal way.\u00a0 There is almost a divine transference taking place.\u00a0 The old order is passing and the relationship between Mary and our Lord is changing.<\/p>\n<p>As Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:18&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;The old things have passed away, and all things have come new.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As Mary stands at the foot of the cross, in her grief and in her sorrow, she must have been crying out, &#8220;My son, my son!&#8221;\u00a0 But in saying &#8220;Woman, behold your son,&#8221; Jesus is saying, &#8220;No, you must no longer think of Me as your son.\u00a0 Woman, behold your son.\u00a0 From now on John is to take\u00a0 that place in THIS life.\u00a0 Regard him as your son.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>From that moment on, Mary is to regard Jesus as Savior and Lord.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;Woman- Behold\u00a0 your Savior!&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Jesus goes to the cross and lays down the life He had drawn from Mary.\u00a0 Mary&#8217;s son dies, and in His death the son becomes her Savior.<\/p>\n<p>Mary looses an irreplaceable son and she gains an incomparable Savior.\u00a0 Mary&#8217;s gain was far greater than her loss.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>She lost the love of a Son who was taken from her in death.<br \/>\n&#8230; But she gained the love of a Savior who death could never take from her.<\/li>\n<li>She lost the joys of a son who had brought her happiness on earth.<br \/>\n&#8230; She gained the joys of a Savior at whose right hand in heaven there are pleasures forevermore.<\/li>\n<li>She gave him life in the flesh for a time.<br \/>\n&#8230;He gave her life in the Spirit for eternity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And today, He offers you life and me life, if we will take it.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">People, behold your Savior!<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u00a0Quiz Time!<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000080;\">As you reflect on what you&#8217;ve just heard\/read, give this quiz a try.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t understand an answer (or if you disagree with the &#8220;correct&#8221;
