The annual District Day of Learning, sponsored by our Delaware Bay District, was held at our church on Saturday March 1,\u00a0 2014 from 8:30 – 3:00 PM.\u00a0 The day started with a continental breakfast in the Fellowship Hall and then it moved into the Sanctuary for a time of praise and worship.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Time of Worship…<\/span><\/h3>\n

The theme of the worship service was “Prayer Matters”.\u00a0 It featured a message<\/span><\/p>\n

This year’s District Day of Learning was attended by about 300 Methodists representing churches across the Delaware Bay; from Gloucester, Salem, and Cumberland Counties.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

A time of Fellowship…<\/span><\/h3>\n

Delaware Bay Methodists enjoy lunch during our 2014 District Day of Learning (3\/1\/14).<\/p><\/div>\n

In between the Morning and Afternoon workshops, our United Methodist Women provided a lunch of soup, salad, and deserts.\u00a0 The lunch hour provided a great opportunity to “mingle” and touch base with friends from across the Delaware Bay District.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Time of Learning…<\/span><\/h3>\n

During the day, Laity and Clergy from across the conference presented about 20<\/span><\/p>\n

Participants in the “Witnessing 101” workshop during the 2014 District Day of Learning (3\/1\/14).<\/p><\/div>\n

workshops dealing with a wide rang of topics regarding church management (finances, committees, etc.). \u00a0 But the day also had a missional emphasis to it.\u00a0 We learned about witnessing, ministering to those in prison, sharing our faith and developing leaders.\u00a0 Many also left the building to participate in several local missions (such as the Pitman Food Pantry).<\/span><\/p>\n

In order for our churches to be “vital” and to impact our communities with the Gospel of God’s love and grace, we need times such as these where we can learn at the feet of experts in various fields and to share about our experiences.\u00a0 The 2014 District Day of Learning brought us together in fellowship and empowered us as we set out in service.<\/span><\/p>\n
