In each month of this school\u00a0 year, Our Father’s House<\/a><\/span> (our pre-school) is featuring a verse from the Bible and then putting that verse in action through mission.\u00a0\u00a0 Here’s what’s happening in Our Father’s House during March…<\/span><\/address>\n

This month’s verse is Matthew 25:35<\/a><\/span>…<\/p>\n

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in…”<\/span><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 NIV<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

This Month’s Mission Project…<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"Heifer<\/a><\/p>\n

In March we will make a donation to the Heifer International<\/a> Project.\u00a0 This project raises funds to help the needy purchase farm animals.<\/p>\n

Different classes will decide on their project.\u00a0 Some may be collecting money to purchase chicks, a pig, goats, tree seedlings, bunnies, bees, a llama, sheep, ducks, fish, a heifer, or a share of one.<\/p>\n

During the course of the next number of sessions, teachers will be talking with the children about this project and the many possibilities that it provides.\u00a0 The children will be receiving little round pins and stickers that show the many different ways we can provide our support and help.\u00a0 Classes each will decide how they would like to help.<\/p>\n

What is Heifer International?<\/span><\/h3>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t

Heifer International’s mission is to<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>work<\/a><\/span> with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth. They help poor and hungry people help themselves. By giving families a hand-up, not just a handout, they are empowered to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity.\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The animals purchased don’t just provide a reliable source of food, but also a reliable source of income. Extra agricultural products, such as milk from cows or goats, honey from bees or eggs from chickens, can be both shared within the community and sold at market. This new income, coupled with the training in sustainable practices that Heifer International provides, allows others to clothe their families, provide them with medical care and send their children to school.\u00a0 When not just one but many families gain this new sustainable produce and income, it brings new opportunities for building<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>schools<\/a><\/span><\/span>, creating agricultural co-ops, and forming community savings and loan groups to help fund entrepreneurial start-ups. <\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It’s a lofty goal, but it is happening! In communities around the world, Heifer International is helping people lift themselves from hunger and poverty.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n

Our verse that accompanies this mission is, \u201cI was hungry and you fed me,\u201d from Matthew 25:35.\u00a0 We will be working with Heifer International throughout this season of Lent, hoping to be able to make our donations by Easter, April 5th<\/sup> .<\/p>\n

Last year<\/a><\/span>, as a school, we collected enough money to purchase 8 flocks of chicks, 2 trios of rabbits, 4 honey bee hives, 2 shares of fish fingerlings, 3 shares of a heifer, and a pig. This was a huge help as we helped others in villages in third world countries to help themselves.<\/p>\n
