 <\/p>\n

The Pitman United Methodist Church has its roots in the Pitman Grove Camp Meeting.\u00a0 During the summer of 1871, a group of clergy from the New Jersey Annual Conference started the Pitman Grove Camp Meeting.\u00a0 They met every Sunday during the summer, but as the Camp Meeting grew, so did the number of year-round residents.\u00a0 \u00a0In 1885, the Pitman Grove Methodist Episcopal Church was founded.\u00a0 There have been several name and building changes over the years, but what started in 1885 is now our Pitman United Methodist Church.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Far more important than our history is that we are rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.\u00a0 We have a Creator who made all of us and loves all of us.\u00a0 And through Jesus, we have an opportunity to restore and grow in our relationship with God.\u00a0 Our God is eternal; the celebration of God’s love and grace which started in 1871 is the same love and grace that we celebrate today.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The Pitman Grove Camp Meeting tradition continues this summer.\u00a0 For the 154th year, the Bible will be preached in the center of our town, in what is known as the Pitman Grove.\u00a0 During the months of July and August, Christians of several denominations will gather in the Grove on Sunday evenings.\u00a0 Through Music and Word, we will celebrate our God and listen for what He wants to tell us in our lives today.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
