If you do a search for “Blood Drive”\u00a0 on this website,\u00a0 you’ll\u00a0 see a lot of posts announcing a lot of blood\u00a0 drives that PUMC has hosted.\u00a0 \u00a0Here’s yet another post announcing yet another Red Cross Blood Drive.\u00a0 But the needs never end, and your donation can continue to save lives.\u00a0 Here are the details:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

American Red Cross Blood Drive<\/span><\/h4>\n

WHEN<\/span><\/strong>: Thursday May 15, 2025\n<\/span><\/p>\n

TIME:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM\n<\/span><\/p>\n

WHERE<\/span><\/strong>: PUMC Fellowship Hall<\/a><\/span> \u00a0\n<\/span> (enter via the Fellowship Hall doors which are right off the parking lot.<\/span><\/em>)<\/span><\/p>\n

WHO<\/span><\/strong>: Aged 16 and above. \n<\/span> Click Here<\/a><\/span> for other requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n

REGISTRATION<\/span><\/strong>: Required: See instructions below.\n<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n

How to Register…<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Click this button:\u00a0 Registration<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n
  2. When the Red Cross website page comes up, click the “See Times” button that’s next to the Pitman United Methodist Church event (if you click the\u00a0 sort “By Distance” tab, PUMC should be at the top of the list).<\/li>\n
  3. Click on the desired time and donation type (see the links for an explanation)<\/li>\n
  4. If you haven’t donated before, click the “Create an Account” button and enter the requested information.\u00a0 If you have donated before, you can enter your user\/login info.<\/li>\n
  5. Click the “Continue” button to finalize your registration.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If that doesn’t work out for some reason, you can call the Red Cross at 800-733-2767 and schedule over the phone.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Donation Types…<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    You can give a donation of either “Power Red” or of “Blood.”\u00a0 When you register, you’ll be asked to select one of these types.\u00a0 According to the Red Cross website, here are the differences:<\/p>\n

    Power Red<\/span><\/strong>:<\/b>\u00a0A\u00a0Power Red donation collects the red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. \u00a0These\u00a0donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Neg, B Neg, or O blood.<\/p>\n

    Blood<\/span><\/strong>: <\/b>The most common type of donation, during which approximately a pint of ‘whole blood’ is given. This type of blood donation usually takes about an hour.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    One PUMC member, who is a regular donor, offered the following thoughts on the reasons for supporting these blood drives…<\/span><\/p>\n

    Donating blood is a very personal act. Each donor has their own reason they give. Personally, I donate in honor of my sister who passed away in 2007 at the age of 50. She was a beneficiary of others donations for several years before her passing. Maybe you have a friend or relative who has benefited from the red cross. Maybe you simply want to help others in need. This is an opportunity to live out the life as a Christian by caring for those in need!<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div> \n

    Yep- “Another” Red Cross Blood Drive. People keep getting injured or sick, and the needs for blood are continuous, especially as we begin to enter the summer season. You can help fill that need (and maybe even save a life) by donating blood. The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at PUMC on 5\/15\/25.
