Rev. Michael Smith<\/p><\/div>\n

Our speaker was the Rev. Michael Smith, pastor of the<\/span> Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Erma NJ.\u00a0 Pastor Mike had to travel a bit of a distance in the early morning to meet with us, so we all appreciated his dedication to the Lord’s service.<\/span><\/p>\n

The theme of his message was based on Luke 4:14-30 where Jesus read the passage from the prophet Isaiah and then added His own twist to the ending: “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”\u00a0 He didn’t just read the scripture and sit down.\u00a0 He interpreted it and showed them that God is the God of all creation.\u00a0 God is bigger than their expectations.\u00a0 God doesn’t just meet our needs; He exceeds our expectations.\u00a0 He doesn’t come to meet our expectations, He comes to meet our needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Humans can’t be super heroes.\u00a0 WE can’t fix everything.\u00a0 Sometimes we think we can and we hold others to high expectations, but once we discover who we are- sinners in need of grace- we realize our dependence on God.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

What are you expecting from God? How has He meet your expectations?\u00a0 How has He exceeded them and met your needs instead of your expectations?<\/span><\/p>\n
