Back in 2004, our church building was destroyed by fire.\u00a0 For 3 years we worshiped in a school, theater, and converted hardware store.\u00a0 In 2007- after much anticipation and work- we moved into our new (current) building.<\/p>\n

About 3 years ago, another local United Methodist Church began a similar journey when their church building burned down.\u00a0 (Read More<\/a><\/span>).\u00a0 But today (9\/7\/14) the South Seaville United Methodist Church opened the doors of its new building and celebrated their first service of worship.<\/p>\n

We built on a different site.\u00a0 South Seaville rebuilt on the site of their old building.<\/p>\n

But both churches have learned the truth about steeples and mortar and brick- they’re only buildings.\u00a0 The church is the people, not the building.\u00a0 Or, more specifically, the church is the Holy Spirit moving through the people of God.<\/p>\n

So it doesn’t matter where you put your building.\u00a0 What matters is where the people of the church put their hearts and priorities.<\/p>\n

And so, we celebrate with the people of the South Seaville United Methodist Church.\u00a0 Welcome home!\u00a0 We will continue to lift them up in prayer as they continue to minister to their community.<\/p>\n
