Before leaving earth, Jesus gave us His marching orders:\u00a0 “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19<\/a><\/span>) and “Ye shall be my witnesses… to the ends of the earth.”\u00a0 (Acts 1:8<\/a><\/span>).\u00a0 \u00a0When we baptize our children, the congregation promises to “so order our lives after the example of Christ so that… you may be strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal.” (United Methodist Hymnal, p39<\/a><\/span>)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

That’s a big commission and it can seem hard to follow.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

To help with that, the Christian Education team is hosting a workshop to help prepare leaders to make disciples just like Jesus did.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

In Step with the Master Teacher…<\/span><\/h3>\n

One of the missionaries we’ve supported over the years is John Abramovich<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0 John (who is from our area) has been in ministry in Poland for many years.\u00a0 He and his wife Dasia organize classes, camping, and other activities which help youth grow closer to Christ.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

What’s this got to do with this workshop?!?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

John and Dasia are connected with an organization called Bible Centered Ministries<\/a><\/span> (BCM).\u00a0 Beyond supporting overseas ministries such as the Abramovich’s, BCM also provides training to help teachers develop a more effective children’s ministry.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

And that’s where this workshop comes in!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

“In Step with the Master Teacher<\/a>” is a free workshop sponsored by BCM which seeks to prepare leaders to make disciples.\u00a0 PUMC’s Christian Education team is hosting an “In Step with the Master Teacher” workshop. The trainer, Lisa Biegert is a wife, mom, and the children\u2019s ministry director at her church since 2013. She lives outside of Scranton, PA where she also serves as a missionary with BCM International.<\/p>\n
