We hosted an American Red Cross blood drive back in July, but the needs keep coming.\u00a0 \u00a0 In fact, the American Red Cross has designated January as “National Blood Donor Month.”\u00a0 \u00a0So we’re following last summer’s clinic with a winter donation.\u00a0 Here are the details:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t

American Red Cross Blood Drive<\/span><\/h4>\n

WHEN<\/span><\/strong>: Friday, January 27\n<\/span><\/p>\n

TIME:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM\n<\/span><\/p>\n

WHERE<\/span><\/strong>: PUMC Fellowship Hall<\/a><\/span> \u00a0\n<\/span> (enter via the Fellowship Hall doors which are right off the parking lot.<\/span><\/em>)<\/span><\/p>\n

WHO<\/span><\/strong>: Aged 16 and above. \n<\/span> Click Here<\/a><\/span> for other requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n

REGISTRATION<\/span><\/strong>: Required: See instructions below.\n<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n

How to Register…<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

There are several options on how to register. Pick the one that works best for you:<\/p>\n

By Button…<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

  2. Scroll down until you see “Friday January 27, 2023<\/span><\/strong>.” If this date doesn’t appear, click the “Load More Results” button.<\/li>\n
  3. Look for the “Pitman United Methodist Church<\/strong>” entry and click the “See Times” button.<\/li>\n
  4. Click on the desired time and donation type (see the links for an explanation)<\/li>\n
  5. If you haven’t donated before, click the “Create an Account” button and enter the requested information. If you have donated before, you can enter your user\/login info.<\/li>\n
  6. Click the “Continue” button to finalize your registration.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    National Blood Doner Month<\/span><\/h4>\n

    This month’s drive has several of special incentives.\u00a0 All donors will receive:<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. A coupon for a Free Medium Hot or Iced Beverage and Egg & Cheese Wake-Up Wrap, courtesy of Dunkin\u2019!<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Automatic entry into a drawing to win a trip for 2 to Super Bowl LVII!<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Most importantly:\u00a0 A knowledge that your investment of a short amount of time and effort will help save someone’s life!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div><\/div>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Donation Types…<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

      You can give a donation of either “Power Red” or of “Blood.” When you register, you’ll be asked to select one of these types. According to the Red Cross website<\/a><\/span>, here are the differences:<\/p>\n

      Power Red<\/span><\/strong>:<\/b> A Power Red donation collects the red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. These donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Neg, B Neg, or O blood.<\/p>\n

      Blood<\/span><\/strong>: <\/b>The most common type of donation, during which approximately a pint of ‘whole blood’ is given. This type of blood donation usually takes about an hour.<\/p>\n
