(11\/6\/22)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Rev. Nate Steury is one of the missionaries our church as supported over the years.\u00a0 Nate and Elinda Steury are currently working in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zambia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zambia<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0 They are continuing the work of Ken and Lorraine Enright (familiar names to PUMC).\u00a0 The Enrights founded the Kafakumba Pastor&#8217;s School many years ago, and we&#8217;ve continued to support that mission.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">We were blessed with Nate&#8217;s visit to PUMC in 2021 (on Oct. 31), and we&#8217;re doubly blessed that he is able to return to visit us again this year, on Sunday Nov. 6.\u00a0 <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Who are the Steury&#8217;s???<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">First of all, his name is pronounced &#8220;Stiry&#8221;&#8230; just like stirring a pot&#8230;<\/span><\/em><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>If the name Nate Steury isn&#8217;t familiar to you, you probably recognize his wife&#8217;s maiden name:\u00a0 Enright.\u00a0 After serving several United Methodist churches in Florida, Nate and his wife Elinda Enright Steury followed Ken and Larraine Enright to Africa.<br \/>\n<div id=\"attachment_31173\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-31173\" class=\"wp-image-31173 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/NateSteury-2021-10-31-_ppIMG_5200-_400x300-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/NateSteury-2021-10-31-_ppIMG_5200-_400x300-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/NateSteury-2021-10-31-_ppIMG_5200-_400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-31173\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nate Steury (at PUMC on 10\/31\/21)<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Ken and Lorraine Enright founded the Kafakumba Pastor&#8217;s School in Zambia.\u00a0 With their son <a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=17637\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John and his wife, Kendra<\/a>, the family began their mission work in what was then known as Belgium Congo, where they started the first pastor&#8217;s school.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>In 1991 war drove the Enright&#8217;s out of Congo, and they relocated in Zambia, where they purchased 80 acres of land. In what they describe as a miracle, that once barren land is now the site of the Kafakumba Pastor&#8217;s School and Training Center.\u00a0 Buildings were constructed using local materials. Today,\u00a0the Enrights&#8217; initial efforts have blossomed into\u00a0a United Methodist Church, dormitories, guest houses, classrooms, an auditorium, cafeteria, computer lab, an elementary school, and a retirement home.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>There have been many changes at Kafakumba.\u00a0 Ken, Lorraine, and John Enright have gone on to Glory. Nate and Elinda returned to Zambia in 2013, and are working with John&#8217;s widow, Kendra, and her sons, Brian and Nathan to assure that the Enright legacy at Kafakumba keeps growing and thriving. Grandchildren are now the fourth generation of Enrights there.\u00a0 \u00a0God is constantly at work at Kafakumba. The Enrights and Steurys\u00a0 feel that they are not waiting for God; but rushing to keep up with Him.\u00a0\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Kafakumba Transformational Outreach<\/span><\/h3>\n<div>At PUMC, our first exposure to the word &#8220;Kafakumba&#8221; came during the 1980&#8217;s through our former pastor, Rev.
