Blood is always needed for life saving procedures,and the need continues.\u00a0 Plasma is used to fight cancer, certain blood types are needed to fight sickle cell anemia, and all donations are vital in emergency procedures.\u00a0 Over the years, PUMC has hosted these American Red Cross Blood Drives and area residents have stepped up to help meet the needs of our neighbors. Check out the<\/em> American Red\u00a0Cross<\/span><\/a><\/span> website to see how these donations are used.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to Register…<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

  2. Scroll down until you see “Monday, May 2, 2022<\/span><\/strong>.”\u00a0\u00a0 If this date doesn’t appear, click the “Load More Results” button.<\/li>\n
  3. Look for the “Pitman United Methodist Church<\/strong>” entry and click the “See Times” button.<\/li>\n
  4. Click on the desired time and donation type (see the links for an explanation)<\/li>\n
  5. If you haven’t donated before, click the “Create an Account” button and enter the requested information.\u00a0 If you have donated before, you can enter your user\/login info.<\/li>\n
  6. Click the “Continue” button to finalize your registration.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If all of that is too much, you can call the Red Cross at 800-733-2767 and schedule over the phone.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Donation Types…<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    You can give a donation of either “Power Red” or of “Blood.”\u00a0 When you register, you’ll be asked to select one of these types.\u00a0 According to the Red Cross website, here are the differences:<\/p>\n

    Power Red<\/span><\/strong>:<\/b>\u00a0A\u00a0Power Red donation collects the red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. \u00a0These\u00a0donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Neg, B Neg, or O blood.<\/p>\n

    Blood<\/span><\/strong>: <\/b>The most common type of donation, during which approximately a pint of ‘whole blood’ is given. This type of blood donation usually takes about an hour.\u00a0<\/p>\n
