Many of us have difficulty making ends meet.\u00a0 After paying the bills and putting food on the table, there isn’t much left of the paycheck.\u00a0 Sometimes, there’s nothing left.\u00a0 And now along comes Christmas!\u00a0 Ho, Ho, Ho…. we want to make it a special day for our children, but buying gifts is difficult.\u00a0 Especially during this time of Covid and higher prices, our “Christmas Club” savings are non-existent.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

But some of us are doing ok.\u00a0 Some of us have a little left over that can be used to brighten the Christmas mornings for some children.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Just as the “Cross-Tree” bridges sinful people to the Holy God, the “Star Tree” bridges the needy with those who can help. Jesus, the Light of the World, came to Bethlehem on Christmas morning to shine the way to God;\u00a0 the Star Tree stands in our Narthex to help shine God’s love into needy hearts.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Star Tree…<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Star Tree is a PUMC tradition.\u00a0 It’s just a Christmas tree that stands in the Narthex at this time of the year.\u00a0 It’s not decorated with fancy ornaments, just stars made out of construction paper.\u00a0 Each star is hung in pairs of identically sized cutouts.\u00a0 One star has the name of a child along with their age and a requested gift.\u00a0 The other cutout has a spot for the donor’s name along with a number matching it with the child.\u00a0<\/p>\n
