Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world<\/span>\u201d (NLT).<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #339966;\">+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nClearly, we are living during very intense and challenging times.\u00a0 There seems to be pressures everywhere we go in life. There are so many things happening in quick fashion throughout the country, the world, and in many of our lives that it is hard to keep up. These swift moving events can leave us feeling frustrated, uncertain, and even fearful. Yes, your <span style=\"background-color: #ffff99;\">joy<\/span> will overflow!<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<div class='et_slidecontent'>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=jn+17&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 17:13<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Now I am coming to you. All rights reserved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">======================<\/p>\n<p>\nMany scholars and theologians throughout Church History have suggested how they believe that Jesus was a happy person and had a sense of humor.\u00a0 God meant our life to be joyous, and this is a joy which remains inside regardless of what is going on around us (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=ecc+3%3A12&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ecclesiastes\u00a03:12<\/a>).\u00a0 It has been suggested by one Christian counselor that, &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #993366;\">A good sense of humor never hurt anyone, and it has made life\u00a0blossom like a flower in the desert for many.<\/span><\/em>&#8221;\u00a0 President Abraham Lincoln wrote, &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #993366;\">If I did not laugh from time to time I would surely die.<\/span><\/em>&#8221; \u00a0Who lived during a more frustrating, challenging\u00a0and\u00a0even\u00a0disappointing time than President Lincoln? <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-28165 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Laugh-Snowman-_400x300-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"255\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Laugh-Snowman-_400x300-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Laugh-Snowman-_400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 255px) 100vw, 255px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\nIs it possible that we live in a world which needs to learn how to laugh again?\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=prov+15%3A30&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Proverbs\u00a015:30<\/a> says, &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #993366;\">A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.<\/span><\/em>&#8220;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThat said, I think we would all agree that weddings can be times of real intensity.\u00a0 Yet I always try to counsel couples not to be so uptight that\u00a0they forget to laugh and enjoy the moment.\u00a0 Despite all of the planning and rehearsing, something almost always happens which was &#8220;unplanned.&#8221;\u00a0 I recall two weddings from my ministry which I hope will provide you all with a smile today!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\nAt one wedding, there were two flower girls who were to walk down the aisle, one tossing red rose petals and the other tossing white rose petals.\u00a0 Rather than walking together the younger of the two flower girls walked behind her sister.\u00a0 The older sister tossed her red petals just as we rehearsed and instead of tossing the white petals, the younger sister picked up the red ones and put them in her basket! Everyone present laughed and enjoyed the moment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">At a different wedding another humorous event took place.\u00a0 A single flower girl carrying white rose petals was walking down the aisle.\u00a0 Now she had been instructed and we had rehearsed that she would toss the petals as she walked down the aisle.\u00a0 As she was coming down the aisle, perhaps frozen by the moment, she was not tossing the petals.\u00a0 People were trying to give instruction with comments such as, &#8220;Throw your petals,&#8221; and &#8220;Hurry up and throw your petals before your reach the minister.&#8221;\u00a0 As the flower girl reached the front of the church it was clear that she had heard, &#8220;throw your petals&#8221; and &#8220;minister.&#8221;\u00a0 She reached the front of the church, stopping right in front of me, grabbed a handful of rose petals, and covered me with them!\u00a0 Some people looked on in horror and all I did was break out in loud laughter!
