{"id":27759,"date":"2021-05-23T09:40:02","date_gmt":"2021-05-23T13:40:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=27759"},"modified":"2021-05-29T10:35:22","modified_gmt":"2021-05-29T14:35:22","slug":"annual-conference-ready-to-move-forward-5-24-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=27759","title":{"rendered":"Annual Conference Ready to Move Forward (5\/24\/21)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">We&#8217;re still in the waning days (hopefully) of the pandemic.\u00a0 The turmoil of the last year and a half has turned things upside down.\u00a0 In some ways we&#8217;ve learned and grown.\u00a0 In others, we&#8217;ve struggled and have been held back.\u00a0 Each year, each &#8220;Annual Conference&#8221; of the United Methodist Church lives up to its name and holds an &#8220;annual conference.&#8221;\u00a0 Pitman UMC is part of the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference, and we&#8217;re having our conference on the mornings of May 24 and 25. \u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">In &#8220;normal&#8221; years, representatives of the 500+ churches in the Greater NJ Annual Conference meet in Wildwood.\u00a0 This year, as with last year, we will be &#8220;meeting&#8221; virtually (using Zoom).<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Each local church is represented at the conference by it&#8217;s pastor(s) and a lay member for each pastor.\u00a0 In PUMC, our church will be represented by Pastor Jim and Lay Leader Larry Bakely.\u00a0 Voting members will participate using a special Zoom link, but anyone will be able to view the conference via YouTube.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-shadow'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Watch the Conference<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Anyone can watch the conference; is a combination of worship, celebration and &#8220;holy conferencing&#8221; business.\u00a0 On the agenda are things like the Bishop Schol&#8217;s annual Episcopal Address (which is kinda of a &#8220;state of the Union&#8221;
