Pastor Jim offered the following words of encouragement in his message of April 21, 2021.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #993300;\">Note:\u00a0 &#8220;KJV&#8221; donates the King James Version of the Bible.\u00a0 &#8220;NIV&#8221; is the New International Version.\u00a0 Click on each reference to see the verse in its full context.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Greetings Friends:<\/span><\/em><\/span><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nPLEASE READ: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+jn+4&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1 John 4:4<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8220;You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>PLEASE READ: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+jn+5&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1 John 5:4<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8220;for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-size: 14pt;\">+\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 +\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 +<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Many, many people experience and carry burdens, challenges, and experience a variety of &#8220;troubles&#8221; on this journey of life. The good news of being a child of God is that we do not have to carry these burdens alone.\u00a0 In fact, as we have noted in previous devotions, sermons, and Bible Studies that God is ready, willing, and able to carry our burdens and carry us!<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-27660 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Weight-lifting-24401__180_400x300-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"215\" height=\"161\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Weight-lifting-24401__180_400x300-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Weight-lifting-24401__180_400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jesus says in\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=mt+11%3A25-30&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew 11:28-30<\/a><\/span>\u00a0(KJV): &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.\u00a0Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.\u00a0For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.<\/em><\/span>&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This teaching is part of the entire message of the Bible. The Old Testament prophet Isaiah wrote in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=is+40&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Isaiah\u00a040:31<\/a><\/span> (KJV), &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #993366;\">But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.<\/span><\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Someone who was very familiar with burdens, challenges, and troubles, was the writer of Lamentations. Yet the author of that short Old Testament book writes, &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #993366;\">The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord<\/span><\/em>&#8221; (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=lam+3%3A1-27&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lamentations\u00a03:25-26<\/a><\/span>).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The psalmist encourages God&#8217;s people with these words, &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #993366;\">I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!<\/span><\/em>&#8221; (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=ps+27&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Psalm\u00a027:13-14<\/a><\/span>).\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5486\" style=\"width: 169px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5486\" class=\"wp-image-5486 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/John-Wesley.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"159\" height=\"118\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5486\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">John Wesley<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\n\u00a0 <br \/>\nThe temptation certainly exists to carry our own burdens without God&#8217;s help. The temptation is certainly there to possibly look for avenues outside of God to assist us with carrying our burdens. The founder of Methodism, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Wesley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John\u00a0Wesley<\/a><\/span>, taught that &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #000080;\">no one or nothing else can give us freedom and rest, only Jesus. It is a rest which is a free gift from a loving God.<\/span><\/em>&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You and I may be carrying a &#8220;package&#8221; which may be filled with burdens, grief, fear, anxiety, restlessness, or hopelessness.\u00a0\u00a0FRIENDS the good news of the Gospel is that God is willing to carry us and our burdens. Our faith and the song we recalled on Easter Sunday says in part God will &#8220;raise us up so we can stand on mountains.&#8221;\u00a0 God will &#8220;raise us up so we can walk on stormy seas.&#8221;\u00a0 God picks us up and promises to carry us AND our burdens as we trust ourselves and our burdens into God&#8217;s capable hands.\u00a0 Jesus said in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=jn+16%3A16-33&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John\u00a016:33b<\/a><\/span>, &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">In this world you will have trouble.\u00a0But take heart! I have overcome\u00a0the world<\/span><\/em>\u201d (NIV). Jesus said in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=jn+14%3A15-27&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John\u00a014:27<\/a><\/span>, &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.<\/span><\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nWhen we are riding in\u00a0God\u2019s arms, we are strong, we will endure, and we will conquer!\u00a0 The Apostle Paul wrote &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #993366;\">&#8230;, in all these things we are more than conquerors\u00a0 through him who loved us<\/span><\/em>&#8221; (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=rom+8%3A31-19&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Romans\u00a08:37<\/a><\/span>).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLet us commit ourselves anew to God and live as the victorious people He has called us to be!\u00a0 May I borrow from the Apostle Paul and say, &#8220;<em><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way.
