{"id":26831,"date":"2021-02-22T16:36:48","date_gmt":"2021-02-22T21:36:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=26831"},"modified":"2021-03-27T13:50:03","modified_gmt":"2021-03-27T17:50:03","slug":"holy-moments-during-a-winters-day-2-21-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=26831","title":{"rendered":"Holy Moments During a Winter&#8217;s Day (2\/21\/21)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">February 2021.\u00a0 As this is being written, it&#8217;s snowing outside.\u00a0 We&#8217;re at the beginning of the Lenten season&#8230; and in the middle of the Covid-19 Pandemic.\u00a0 We turn our hearts toward God.\u00a0 We want to sense the simple quietness of the Spirit that surrounds us, but we also feel the noise of the pandemic.\u00a0 To stay safe and to avoid speeding this terrible disease, we are staying home.\u00a0 Our Sunday morning pews are now in front of a computer.\u00a0 We &#8220;watch&#8221; our worship services from home instead of worshiping with our Church in our church.\u00a0 Many of us haven&#8217;t set foot in our church building in almost a year.\u00a0 We all miss the surroundings of friends and family&#8230; and of the holy place that we call our sanctuary.\u00a0 <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The sign that would greet us as we would enter that special space beckons us to &#8220;be still and know God.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">We want to be still.\u00a0 We want to see God.\u00a0 In the quiet of a late February snowfall and in the anxiety of a pandemic, we want to be know God&#8230;.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">A Winter&#8217;s Day at PUMC<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>During\u00a0 our worship service on the first Sunday in Lent, a video was presented as the &#8220;Ministry of Music&#8221; slot.\u00a0 As with so many things in life these days- including Sunday worship services- the music was presented &#8220;virtually.&#8221;\u00a0 A real moment of worship, but we had to experience it remotely.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3007 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Snow-BerrySteeple-100_1899-170x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"133\" height=\"235\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We wouldn&#8217;t normally describe a parking lot with words such as &#8220;still,&#8221; &#8220;quiet,&#8221; or &#8220;beautiful.&#8221;\u00a0 And, by itself a room isn&#8217;t holy.\u00a0 But God turns the ordinary into &#8220;still&#8221; and &#8220;holy&#8221; when He touches us with His presence.\u00a0 The sounds of\u00a0 a quiet morning snowfall, the white freshness of the pavement, and the red holly berries poking through the snow remind us that we can&#8217;t escape the creative presence of God.\u00a0\u00a0 We may not be able to enter the sanctuary ourselves, but even a video that takes us through the doors and into that room reminds us of God&#8217;s holiness.\u00a0 And the music inspires us to &#8220;cast our golden crowns (and worries) around the glassy sea&#8221; and just melt before our Holy God.
