The pandemic has made so many things are different this year.\u00a0 The changes punched into Easter, and then stretched into Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Pentecost, and summer.\u00a0 And now we have reached Advent with the realization that this year’s Christmas will be different too. Throughout the year, we discovered new ways to grow in faith; ways that were “socially distanced” and didn’t involve our building.\u00a0 And yet, despite the changes, we were more inclined to use the word “New” instead of “Cancel.”\u00a0 Advent 2020 will be “New” and different, but not far from absent.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Below is a summary of the events that will frame this year’s Advent season.\u00a0 The timber might look different, but as we focus on Christ we know we’re building on solid ground.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Ongoing Opportunities…<\/span><\/h3>\n

\nSunday Morning Worship<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n

Our worship services continue each Sunday morning at 10:15 AM. Due to COVID restrictions, we are only able to welcome 25 in-person worshipers each Sunday, but our services are also live streamed each week! Join us virtually or in-person to hear songs of the season and meaningful messages.<\/p>\n

To attend in person, please register in advance by contacting the Church Office at 856-589-8313. As with all public places, worshipers will be required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth for the entire service (see the “RSVP” button below for details).<\/p>\n

If you prefer to stay at home (and skip the mask!), please join us via live stream.\u00a0 The button below will take you to our Live Stream page where you can see the service real time (or view recordings of previous services).<\/p>\n

Did you know, you can ask your smart speaker to connect to the device on which you are streaming the service and you will be able to listen through it? Simply stream the service, and say, \u201cAlexa, connect to my phone\/tablet.\u201d It\u2019s easy and convenient! Missing the fellowship of Sunday School? We have two opportunities to meet virtually! Potter\u2019s Hand, our adult Sunday School class meets each Sunday at 9 AM via Zoom. To receive the Zoom invitations, send an email to

Our children\u2019s lesson is available on our Facebook Group each Sunday at 9:45 AM. Look Forward!\u00a0 PUMC\u2019s collaborative Advent devotional book is available online and in paper copy. Hooks and Needles<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n

Our dedicated and devoted crafters have met throughout the pandemic and have, recently, returned in-person and socially-distanced in Potter\u2019s Hand! Hooks and Needles meets on Monday afternoons. To learn more, please contact the Church Office at 589-8313 or office@pitmanumc.org.\u00a0\u00a0 Recently, these intrepid crafters have started creating cold-weather gear for our community and beyond! If you are a knitter or crocheter and would like to donate scarves, mittens, or the like to this project, please contact the Church Office. You do not need to be a part of Hooks and Needles to donate, but Hooks and Needles welcomes new friends at any time!\u00a0 Click\u00a0Here<\/a><\/span> for more information.<\/p>\n

Soap and Such Toiletries Pantry<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n

UMW\u2019s community toiletries\u00a0pantry<\/a><\/span> continues to provide much-needed items to our community. We are always in need of soap\/body wash, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid, and body lotion. Feel free to drop your donations directly in the bins under the porch at the church or, to make a Venmo or cash donation, please email umw@pitmanumc.org.<\/p>\n

Prayer Phone<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n

Need to hear a friendly voice with an uplifting message and prayer? Call our Prayer Phone at 856-226-4159 and be blessed. The message changes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!<\/p>\n

Would you like to record a message? Email umw@pitmanumc.org! You could read a devotion or poem, write your own message, or speak in anyway the Spirit moves you. We would love to have your voice!<\/p>\n
