To grow as a Christian, we constantly need to “feed” on the “Word of God.”\u00a0 In other words, there’s a lot of value in getting into the habit of cracking open our Bibles and regularly digging in to what it says.\u00a0 There’s also proven worth in memorizing scripture verses that will remind us of God’s glory and will as we go through our day to day moments.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Back in late 2005 and into 2006, former PUMC Senior Pastor, Dr. Lanie Price posted a “memory verse” in the bulletin each Sunday.\u00a0 The verses were tied to her sermons, but they represented a wide sampling of the Bible… a variety of “spiritual food” which can continue to help us, even today.\u00a0\u00a0 PUMC’er Kim Bakely (now deceased) noted these verses in her Bible each Sunday.\u00a0 Throughout her Bible’s margins, selected verses are marked “MV” along with a date.\u00a0 Unbeknownst to her at the time, she was compiling a record of each Sunday’s memory verses that could be used years later.<\/p>\n

From what we’ve found, 26 verses in her Bible are dated and marked “MV.”\u00a0 These “Memory Verses” were printed in our Sunday bulletins from December 2005 through May of 2006.<\/p>\n

The 26 memory verses will be presented below, one verse per week.\u00a0 This text box is duplicated elsewhere on the website, and\u00a0 the verse inside of it will automatically change every Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The verses are presented in the original order, but no attempt has been made to match to the original dates or to tie the verses to any current holiday or event.\u00a0<\/p>\n
