(4\/24\/20)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>The Men&#8217;s Fellowship group has set aside the weekend of April 24-26 as a time to &#8220;retreat&#8221; from the day to day activities of &#8220;normal life.&#8221;\u00a0 This year&#8217;s retreat marks the 19th straight year that we have held our retreat at the Black Rock Retreat Center in Quarryville, PA!\u00a0 Over the years we have met in October, December and, more recently, in March.\u00a0 But unlike the recent tradition, our retreat will be in April instead of March.\u00a0 Each year has its similarities, and yet- each year is a unique experience&#8230;<br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Writer:\u00a0 Matthew<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The theme of our retreat will be entitled &#8220;Following the Master- Studies from the Book of Matthew.&#8221;\u00a0 From the sermon on the Mount in chapter 5 through the Great Commission in chapter 28, the book of Matthew teaches us many challenging messages.\u00a0 During the weekend&#8217;s four sessions, we&#8217;ll dig into these lessons to see how they apply to us as men and how we can &#8220;deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Speaker:\u00a0 George Devol<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Our speaker for the weekend will be a familiar face to us- <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/firstbaptistcourthouse.org\/pastor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pastor George Devol<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0 Pastor George led our retreat in 2018 when we studied the book of Philippians, and we are excited to be able to meet with him again.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17663\" style=\"width: 269px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17663\" class=\" wp-image-17663\" src=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Mens18-George-DeVol-_IMG_1501-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"259\" height=\"194\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Mens18-George-DeVol-_IMG_1501-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Mens18-George-DeVol-_IMG_1501.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 259px) 100vw, 259px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-17663\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pastor George DeVol<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Pastor George has been serving full-time in ministry for the past twenty years.\u00a0 He is currently serving as the Senior Pastor at <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/firstbaptistcourthouse.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">First Baptist\u00a0Church<\/a><\/span> in Cape May Court House where he and his family have been for the past two years.\u00a0 In his time in ministry Pastor George has spent several years as a youth and family pastor as well as the director of Camp Haluwasa in Hammonton NJ.\u00a0 During this time, he has had the privilege to serve as a guest speaker at a number of churches, ministries, and retreats.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pastor George has a master\u2019s degree in the Bible with a specialization with youth and family ministry.<\/p>\n<p>He has been married to his wife Shannon for 18 years and they have 4 children.\u00a0 His interests include sports, hiking, and outdoor activities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a look at the last retreat that Pastor George led with us (2018)&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class='et-box et-shadow'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'><p><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">(Use your browser&#8217;s &#8220;back&#8221; button to return to this article)&#8230;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"RmJttPeTBg\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/pitmanumc.org\/wp\/?p=16897\">Men&#8217;s Fellowship Refocuses during 2018 Retreat! It takes about 45 minutes to drive from Pitman to Black Rock, and car pools will be organized.
